Thank you Randy..The last year of this school was 1903 it opened in 1855..............It has been a farmers field since 1921.
I have permission to hunt it anytime crops are not there. I have pulled IH..Large cents, and shield nickles so far. The biggest problem it was a rural school and not a lot of money was in their hands for loosing it. It seems most of the finds are nickles and IH cents dated 1892 through 1900....
The large cent was 1835.............it was in an isolated area away from where I hit the hot spot.Another problem seems that Fertilizer has taken it's toll on all the coins.I have not taken an Xterra there yet. CZ's and Whites. A friend did take an Explorer Xs and did not fair well at all. Ground plowed
when we went and they just do not like plowed ground much. I will do a little more research and see if school was used for other things. It may not have been as they have a volunteer Fire Department that has been around since 1840..Thats where all the local community activity took place I think.Heck it still does to this day.A strong community function including voting outings and carnivals are still held there every year.(At Fire Department) I will spread out hunt area, do more research and let you know what I come up with. Thanks for all the great advice.
