3 hour hunt with the Outlaw

It was in the detuned mode. Then you hit the pinpoint button over metal. You can not do this.If metal could be present in the ground you have to hold the coil up to retune.Going into no motion in a playground is suicide. At a park disc mode and auto all metal only should be used.No motion woods and fields.

It's probably a bad switch. It's not working as it should. Send it back to Tesoro for them to fix and stop worry about it.

The Outlaw is one awesome detector, don't let a bad switch turn you off to it.

Spirit, i didnt go into no motion in the playground. You can see in the video i was in disc the whole time. It did all of that on its own.

Idx somthing is wrong , its a bummer to have this happen , but tesoro will fix it . I would send it in . sounds like the switch to me as well . as far as Hunting in all metal . no motion , shure you can hunt in it just not next to larg metal objects, i have already done it , it works fine but when i went over the metal culvert pipe under the road it picked that up really well you could shure use it for cach hunting and finding larg objects in ground , i tested it on an ax head and got that at 22" deep and that with the 7" coal plus you can detune it some so the signal gets sharper , i hope to do a vieo of an all metal No motion hunt, I know its going to like barb wire probly a foot away that when i switch to disc, you did good videos on the problem keep us informed , whatever you dicide to do . I am shure somone will buy it it you want to sell it if i had extra money i would buy it . and you have not been able to use it when its working properly yet .

Thats the biggest bummer Gun. I've been working with a bum unit from day one. Unfortunately I just did'nt really understand the whole Tesoro thing so i never knew what was typical or not. Honestly, i came from another forum and they had alot of issues with the outlaw so i really got no help. It wasnt till i came here that you guys actually listened and helped verify i wasnt crazy...

Sorry to hear it is defective. But i will add this.Even though the detector is set in the disc mode,if you hit the pinpoint button you can also inadvertently detune the detector. How this happens. If in the disc mode, you hit the button,if you do not do a final reset the detector becones detuned because the button motion goes thru the no motion mode to get to the motion mode.Do you see what i am trying to say.If you push that button all the way down it retunes the detector.Actually i start to wonder if the switch sequence is backwards on this thing. The reason i say this is even on the toggle.I think the autoall metal should be next to the disc.I can see were this could be a problem.Say one is hunting in the disc mode, then desires to us the button to hear the target in motion all metal.Well when you push the button, you have to remember, to get to the motion mode the button travels thru the no motion part of the button, which could begin to detune the detector. What i believe we will find out on this detector is......IMPORTANT-if using detector in the disc mode and the pinpoint button is used, before continuing to search one must hold detector up in the air and push retune button all the way in to retune the detector to the original threshold. This must be done or the detector could be in a detuned state.I have a strong filling this is were the problem lies.

some people dont want to admit that thear favorite company may have made somthing that is broken , and may think you are just bashing the detector , Honesty is the best policy, but Tesoro will stand with you on this , from what i have been doing with the outlawr it is a fine machine, but its good to own if you can more than one machine, I hope you get a chance to use it after its fixed , I know i smashed my Muskiteer with a hammer when it stoped working only to find out it had a lose battery box, I Wish i had not acted so hastaly but i felt like why me, ? I put the little money I had into the thing and then it does not work. I was pissed. showed me I was not a very good saint, had to repent of my anger , like to see you get thru this bro .

No bashing here Gun. Bummed? Yes... It gets frustrating when something so simple becomes so confusing ya know. You also have to admitt, everyone here who owns one, as well as other forums, all have different takes on it's functions and modes. Hold the coil in the air and hit retune while in disc, hit retune before going from all metal auto to disc, don't hunt in non motion, hit retune to optimize the machine, hit retune to stabalize the gb in case of temp change, the retune button does none of the above, the thresh is tied into the disc mode, the thresh is not tied into the disc mode, it cant be supertuned, it can be supertuned, etc...etc.... Heck I thought I got a simple machine...HeHe.. I know sometimes in text it may seem like i'm bashing but not the case, just my frustration of really wanting this to be my go to machine. When you spend $600 and really had many choices in that price range only to be dissapointed it S***s ya know? Heck, even after posting the vids of the things it's doing, i've been told it's faulty and send it back, it's fine just stay away from playground equipment in all metal (which I wasn't), that happens sometimes so just raise coil and hit the retune, and to much sens is what caused it.

But while you are figuring your problem out i am going to hunt with the outlaw and make maybe a few short videos if i can do it with this phone.Utube say's first video pending,so fingers crossed. You could have a sticking push button idx.Heck,i think we are all trying to figure this detector out.It might turn out to be a good relic, jewelry, coins, everything,we really don't know yet.
