2015 etrac

Im considering buying a new 2015 etrac . Are there any new bells and whistles , or new features on 2015 vs. 2014 ? What would be the coil choice on this machine for relic / coin hunting ?

Far as i know, same old same old.

I wish the hell Minelab would get off their a$$'s and engineer a brand newly designed eTRAC-II as a viable upgrade option for those of us who don't want or can't afford a CTX.
But apparently Minelab don't listen to their loyal customers.

IMHO, Minelab is missing out on a profitable marketing venture.

You said it Ironsight.
I would buy an eTRAC-II in a second. Ive tried other alternatives to find a lighter detector and have always sold them and circled back to the eTRAC as it is the best in my opinion. I believe there is a ton of demand just for an upgrade for weight and balance for this machine.

I would much rather them fix the screen to make it more visible ...

Minelab isn't going to do that because it would really hurt their CTX 3030 sales....................

Too right on both counts or that's the way it looks too many people.

You mean that the price and menu and weight and other things haven't hurt their sales !! In the UK the Deus outsells the CTX 5 + to 1 I have been told. and the ET is also according to info not selling at all well now either. Great marketing strategy !

I had the CTX when it came out and it cost then £1999 and now it costs £1550 or so , I sold mine due to feeling it has no advantage over the ET other than the ground balance and 2 target track.
Not enough to pay £1999 or £1550 , in fact I wouldn't have one if they gave it away , I would sell it.

Now an ET with a new 3 piece stem, FBS 2 , ground balance and a similar menu to the ET would get me buying , but then Minelab or "Codan" are only interested in bringing out the CTX , SDC2300 and now the GPZ 7000 . Looks like we are at the back of the queue .

As for buying an ET , go for it . Its a great machine .

Nuke em...........I totally agree with everything you're saying! But! .................they're not going to do it!! ( I, too, would buy one!! )

I can't find any mention of a 2015 e-trac on the internet...Where did this info come from?

Just someone's wishful thinking , like I do :)

Well Dale , if that is true and outside of my dream world it probably is then the march of XP ,Blisstool , Fisher , Whites and Garrett will continue to eat into Minelab's profits until Minelab is no more .

I sold mine due to weight, hard to see screen and the possibility of out of warranty repair costs.. It is great for silver but there are alot of detectors out there better for all the other goodies i love to hunt besides silver..

The ET is not that bad for costs but the CTX is double or more on almost all things , that was almost top for me for selling my CTX.

Yep the ET loves the silver, it spoiled me wanting to only look for silver lol and after swinging it for 3 hours your arm will know it... would love to see a updated version but I don't see that happening.

I use mine on the beach for upto 8 hours at a time .
It finds Gold too and have had lots in the last few year , I will be happy to carry on with mine for whatever time it takes till a new one comes.

I, like a lot of shooter's on here find plenty of Silver, but the Etrac finds Gold too. Even though I shoot for Silver and dig targets in the Nickel range I have 2 friends that have been tearing it up on Gold Rings at 2 lakes here in Okla. one found 5 (Over 25 for the year) last weekend and they also have even used them in ankle deep water as well (Which I would not do personally), but both of these guys also have CTX 3030's, so.....they have been using small coils, and using an open TTF setting.

I would buy an ETRAC 2 in a heart beat if they ever did hit the market... Add a Coil like the CTX's with the Chip, Wireless Headphones (I'm using the Rapoo's right now and they actually work), a screen that you can see better, lighten it up with a lighter battery (RNB or similar) and make it possible to download up dates, etc...That would be one Hell of a Christmas Present

Not much worried about wireless headphones , the ET screen could do with improving and if it had the same battery then my RNB would be perfect for that , not worried about downloads .
All I want is a lighter better balanced ET with FBS 2 and the ET menu or as close as . Oh and a paper manual !

In any case even if a new ET came along , I will wait a while and see what the fuss is about first , had so many different machines that I am fed up with buying machine after machine that doesn't suit me .

I use my ET upto my knees in the wet but make sure I have an iron grip on it .

Etrac to be waterproof like 3030 would be nice!

Don't want to much weight and the more you have on the machine the more the price goes up , and Minelab knows a lot about high prices.

Careful for what you wish for.
The problem with the pipe-dreamed eTRAC-II 'if' designed-in with FBS-2 is that all of our 3rd party coils would be useless. On paper FBS-2 'should' be a quantum leap over FBS-1 but in all practicality according to what i've read, FBS-2 is not that much of an improvement in the field, maybe just a slightly noticeable improvement but not worth the sticker shock.
IMO, Its the other detecting options on the CTX that has the edge over the current eTRAC.
Most of those CTX detecting options are software related and theoretically shouldn't add that much more cost to a futuristic eTRAC-II.

I think its a forgone conclusion that the new ET will have FBS 2 so will just have to get used to the idea , well actually it can stand in queue after the probable fact that a new ET wont come anyway !
Minelab's loss .
