2007 "State of the Industry Message"

Most of the good ideas are not covered by patent its just a case of taking them up. The British Rimertron company (now Viking) produced the first detector with all the works in the headphones (Rimertron Crown), Richard Dodds a true windowing signal booster (small items at depth boosted , large near surface stuff muted), Fieldmaster added a double D widescan coil to their motion machines when Whites etc said only concentric coils could be used. The Bulgarian external pre amp for the Sovereign is now starting to be copied.
On the other hand multifrequency metal detecting was developed by the U.S. firm Westinghouse first but U.S. companies didn't apply it to a hand held machine. U.S. loss, Australian gain.

perhaps this is so,however if a good idea is NOT patented, then all bets are off,and it's up for grabs!..NO ONE gives away technology, unless they have a death wish as a viable company!

Whats been a problem with the Pulse Devil which was a working machine over three years ago. Patents. Protection worldwide costs a fortune and its an on going cost. Last I heard Dave was going the self destruct route with componants and no numbers or values on anything.
Whether it will protect his design for long we will have to see.

That's one I was wondering if it would ever make market. I heard somewhere that Dave also had built a VLF that was deeper than anything on the market, hope he will be able to get the Pulse devil soon at a decent price.....

Don't know about deeper than anything on the market but his VLF was designed as a Nexus beater (which is I suppose the one to beat that is currently on the market).
Its a mono loop discriminator but unlike the Nexus retains performance on wet salt beaches and high mineralisation areas.

i am referring specifically to "mercury" which is used in the manufacter of the analog meter!..this metal has been eliminated from the electronic manufacturing process,as i understand it!

Thanks
Yeah they do. Garrett just doubled the size of their factory off the profits from the Ace 250 and will employ another 120 people or so.

Bill
YES the ACE changed it's color, painted itself with GREEN, the color of all the Money and Jewelry they find and GREEN with envy by all the other detector makers.

You could buy a Minelab Sovereign for less than a Whites dfx or xlt. IT has no "programming scenario". It is heavy.
