I did not find this....! But a friend of mine did. He found it near Susanville California. It was so Smoky because of the fires,.. at first he thought it was silver. He pulled it out of burned forest fire ground. It's a common date, but still the find of a lifetime for a metal detector. My Point is.... they are still out there..!

A truly nice find indeed--easier to hunt the forests' grounds without the BRUSH! I hope you find gold, too! Ma

................................ ................................ ............................. yeah... takes my breath away. CONGRATS to your friend!

Wow!! Wonder if there is a cache there

Does the burned over ground require any special adjustment to the detector verses unburned ground?

Thanks for sharing your friend's find and story! Incredible recovery and smart strategy. You are right they are still out there for sure. Everyone I know that's found a gold coin has this in common; it wasn't dumb luck, they were doing a focused grid on an area thorough research led them to. Congrats to your friend!

Wow that's great! I'm here in Cali & I have a crazy feeling I'll be finding a gold coin sometime soon. I been hunting this creek and stumbled across an area that has yielded me 3 seated coins. a peace dollar some walkers and all kinds of other silver & other 1800's goodies. There was something happening here back in the day with all sorts of ruins like partial brick walls, docks and all other kinds of ruins. Deep in my heart I know this area is ripe for such a find. My problem is I have to wait for the creek to start drying up as it does every year and hunt hard in a 3 to 4 month window. It's coming I know it!

Wow double eagle I remember Ron and Andrew on YouTube had some unbelievable gold coins found I believe 2 or more $20.00 ones and a bunch of silver
great find any gold coin is a dream come true!

Pray in the name of Jesus for guidance & God wil direct your footsteps right to the gold & other goodies! Amen! Ma

Great find. I have been metal-detectin since the mid-70's. I have never found a gold coin. I wander if I am listening right. Ha, Ha. I have a XP-Deus and a Minelab GPX 4500. Don't know but of but one found ( 5$ piece) being found in my area. A lot of historical significance in my area. I don't know.

Since my area is burning, and its in an area where a couple of old mining and loggings camps were known to be……… I may have to contemplate my next move. 🧐
