2 picnic groves found and permission to hunt granted

artzstuff1, Soon as it rains here I'm heading to the site to hunt around the old store and houses. I'm very anxious to start hunting this site but I won't touch the landowners yard until we have enough rain to keep from hurting his grass. I hope to have some nice coins to post real soon. HH...........

man i hope you clean up. i would not do the yards until rain either. we are drought in ga. i am in drought on hunting places too! i'm JEALOUS! LOL! just getting out in the country air! i am serious about wells---my bud showed me one on hunting club, hidden in low grasses and huckleberries. no above ground, but wide bricked shaft and 40 ft down. its thirty feet from road. dang scary! a friend fell down one hunting, following a dog. was tore up from the vines and trees growing out sides. but managed to get out with brush. the well i was shown, no way out. never hunt alone! i am sure on this site, there would be an abundance of volunteers:detecting: i have found bottles right down the sides of walls a lot, i guess people threw them out of the way. probes help! should be john ryans and hutchinson bottles too. hurry up and hunt and post ya killing us with anticipation! good luck dixiedigger

dixiedigger57, we have a trip planned to the site tomorrow. gonna explore around the old houses and look for outhouses and wells mainly, but may swing a coil around the buildings. we are supposed to get some showers over night so maybe we can dig around the old store at least.
I have ran into old wells hunting morel mushrooms.... no cover, just a 30 foot deep well that is just scary looking into it. If you ever wanted to hide a body this would be the place....lol. I will post anything we find tomorrow.

My buddy and I went back to the site today and tried to hunt the grove but it is just too tall to swing a coil in. We explored another section of the grove and I have a feeling this is the magical spot we want to hunt. It has huge oak trees scattered all around the area and is nice and flat and easy access to it.
The land owner said he farmed over 600 acres around the site and we were welcome to hunt all we wanted on the property. Something cool I found last night was on a google earth photo of the area there was a small darker colored area in the cornfield that was different colored than the rest of the field....
looked at an old map of the site and there was an old house setting in the field over 100 years ago according to the map. The land owner confirmed there was an old house there at one time and there was debris in the field from the house. Looks like another site to hunt. I forgot to take my camera out in the field so no pics today. Looked at the old 2 story brick house today... bricks made on site by the owner and he was also a blacksmith so he probably forged the railing in the first group of pictures I posted earlier by the upstairs door. Found out there was 2 stores, 2 elevators, a mill, a post office, a train depot
and a blacksmith shop and several houses at this site. Also a church an 1/8th of a mile east of the grove. This place is gonna keep us busy for a long time to come......HH
