2 hours...5 digs...5 rusty nails...but with nail #6 came...OH MY:surprised: :yikes:...

Bryce, how did you overcome the size of the Ultimate 13" coil. Logic tells us the larger coil is not good unless out in an open area with few targets. This coil is huge.

Beautiful coin Bryce, congratulations :clapping:

Bryce... I would give all the silver I ever found just to have one more day with Sky and be able to do that. It's that old saying about you never appreciate what you have until you've lost it. I think as time goes on and we get wiser we get better at not taking those sorts of things for granted, but no matter how much better of a job you do you always feel that you could have done more. I took Sky on some hunts a few years ago but honestly I could have taken her way more often. She liked to "roam", so I had no choice but to tie her up in the shade near where I'm hunting. That's why I like to tell myself I didn't do it more, but I know the truth is that that's no real excuse.

Markg, I don't own that coil (yet) but from what I've read and what Bryce has already I think said in one of his field reviews of it...It seems to have some "unique" abilities at finding coins in iron not found on other "conventional" round DD coils, especially of that size. That being said, I would *guess* (just a guess, as I haven't seen them compared yet in the field against each other) the 12x10 might still have better left/right separation due to it's unique shape and compressed DD line width wise, but from what admittedly little I've seen posted about the Ultimate so far it has some surprising qualities compared to another round DD coil of similar size when it comes to stuff in iron. I seem to remember Bryce saying something about it sounding off to coins in iron at various directions better than one would expect, and it was more of a "sure thing" if you got somewhat of a coin signal from more than one (or maybe two) angles, where as you couldn't count on that being a good indicator with other coils of similar size. That is, if memory serves. Dig up his field tests of this coil. He's posted two thus far that I'm aware of I think, and there has been at least one field test of it in the Etrac forum as well by somebody else that is a very good read too.

I have one on my safari. I just picked up an se w/ a bunch of coils from a guy thats saving up for one of those new bazookas , I paid less than 1/2 price. Im itchin to try it, but the soil is currently harder than cement . I,ve got the wife and kids out everyday doing the rain dance......
