1901 S Barber Quarter. KEY :)

Wow, what a great find! I think I need to do more hunting East of Oregon! Good luck and positive thoughts sent out for you. I'd simply be thrilled with finding my 1st Barber quarter! Now I know what I will be looking at when I do finally find 1 haha, found my 1st Barber dimes (2 in less than 2 weeks) after 1.5 years of detecting and was totally thrilled so I can only imagine how you must feel!

Laplander, now you got my curiosity going with your mention of "not wanting a Jimmy Sierra ending" lol, I don't know enough about the man so tried googling it...

Yeah, I didn't get the Jimmy Sierra reference either, and I Googled it and looks like he had a hoard of coins stolen.

Glad I wasn't the only one, that sucks to have something like that happen!!! Too bad!

Best wishes for you on the grading.
Who did you send it to for grading?

Today I dug a 1903 S Dime in good shape ...can read Liberty clearly with lines....but it has a small dent in the side...not by me! I think it adds character!

See dim at California Metal Detecting

Sent the quarter in to get graded! Fingers crossed. Think good thoughts about positive grades ! Merry Chistmas!

Jimmy Sierra found a Spanish treasure and displayed in his house and word got around and it was stolen!

Ok guys it's at PCGS. Just waiting now

Been following this thread with great interest! What a great coin, and what interesting comments too!.:clapping:..please let us know how it all works out...Congratulations! It gives me hope for that 'once in a Lifetime" find out there!

Great news!!!!! My 1901 S Barber Quarter just came back from PCGS!!! GENUINE XF details!!!!! Goes up for auction on Great Collections tomorrow! I'll post the link when the auction starts!!!!

One of the best finds ever. Congrats!

Best of luck at the Auction !

Sold! $6251.00

Congrats! I saw it on FB, but you deserve more. Will you be dealing with Ian Russel the next time something like this comes around?

Cool deal Dr. Have you heard of anyone else digging one of those?

Doing business with Ian was a pleasure. Everything was taken care of. I would like to see an extended bid in the furure though. For instance, if the action ends at 8:01 and it gets a last minute bid, I think it should have to go three minutes without another bid until the auction closes. I think I would have had more bidders if that was the case. I have heard of one other guy that dug one a few years back but his was pretty beat up
