Thanks Mark! They are elusive little coins for sure. They don't come up often but I've been lucky to dig a few over the years. It is a big thrill for such a tiny coin. I hope you get your coil over one soon. Good luck!Awesome find still looking for a seated half dime!

Thanks. Yeah the damage stinks but this is actually the first Seated half dime that I've found that's not been holed. The first one I found was holed and has the letter A carved into it. Adds to the story behind the find I guess.Beautiful coin. Sad for the dings.

Thanks Mike! I with you on it being dropped by a soldier. I found one of my favorite Civil War relics just about 200 yards across the street from here. It's a game die made from a bullet.Great find Dave! The details are sharp, I'd bet heavily on it being a CW Soldier's drop.
That is unreal, great hunting!!!!!!!Thanks Mike! I with you on it being dropped by a soldier. I found one of my favorite Civil War relics just about 200 yards across the street from here. It's a game die made from a bullet.
Did you know you pitched your tent over a chest of gold. Like the old gold mining towns.Geez I go camping for a few days and the finds you guys get blow up the forum. Never going camping again (taking bribes of course!)
Love the old stuff!!!
Heck of a keeper! All day everyday, the coin has the look, along with character. Thanks for sharing.I hit a fresh construction site where they just cleared off a section of woods. This area is known to have some major Civil War camps all around. The place is really trashy but to my surprise the first good target I got was a tiny silver coin. After a little splash of water I could see I had dug an 1859 O Seated Half Dime. I couldn't have asked for a better start to a new site. The coin has great details but has been damaged from the heavy equipment. I found a few bullets and my last target was a nice piece of an iron spur. I'm happy to save a few more relics from the dozer and I am waiting for them to clear of some more areas to hunt.
Thanks T-DUB!Heck of a keeper! All day everyday, the coin has the look, along with character. Thanks for sharing.
