Congratulations to you and "Sarah", although all detectorists hope to find a gold coin, probably less than 1 percent find one. You are now a member of an elite group. Also sounds like you are very "tuned in" to what she is telling you. Hope you and her make many more fantastic finds. By the way, your other finds were very good and most they would consider it a successful day just to find them.

Very impressed with your resolve to get out and hunt in that weather! That was a well earned find, a real trophy for your dedication and committment to the sport...funny to read what your thoughts were when you got the signal..."its either foil or gold" the true mental assessment we all wrestle with...dig, or walk away? Nice dig!:clapping:

Meant to add to my previous post that although the coin has a hole in it that does no necessarily mean it was worn on a necklace, although possible. People in that period of time put holes in coins so as to sew them into coat linings or put on a string so as not to lose them as pockets in clothes were either non existent or very unreliable.

It was the sound, it had a deeper tone than a pull tab, found a chart online of what a gold coin vdi number could be on the f-75 so I keep it on my phone. When I found this coin the numbers were jumpy and like I said on my Video I thought it was either gold or junk so I guess it was just luck. LOL

I ran it at disc at 16 sens. 80 notch 1, tones 2f the coin vdi was jumpy it was the sound that got me hoping it wasn't a pull tab. I remember seeing on the vdi numbers in the 51 to 55 and jumpy. I did find the flat button a few inches away. I only dug 1 gold ring once and It was only 3 to 4 inches down and it was a solid 41 on the vdi, but I have dug a lot of junk at a 41 vdi.

Very cool I imagine the smile on your face was something not to easily removed!
Congratulations, I choose that to be one of my goals for 2013. Thanks for sharing your
find and renewing a hope for the illusive gold coin for all of us!
