I'm still in the field , can you guys read the date?

It looks like a 1793 to me, the first year of issue. A great find worth $2000 plus depending on which variety.......:clapping:

man that's what I thought it said I know when I clean up at 3 then look like an 8 or something wait a second I think I may not clean that if in fact it is 1793

That is one for the pros...... take very good care of her........

if any of you know a conservator that you know and trust I guess I have to ask if you could send his or her name along to Me.

so it appears to be a 1793 Liberty Cent...

WOW!!!! Great Find!!!

that's an awesome find. I just read where one graded at au-55 went for $632,500.

There are a few varieties. Show us a picture of the back.

I will put some pictures up when I get home the front is in better shape than the back but looking at it it appeared to look just like other large cents

What a monster find! 1793 Liberty Cap large cents are extremely rare. Can't tell from the photo, but if it's one of the varieties with the "dotted I" instead of the 2 dots over the I than you have a real rarity. After going out yesterday and finding a seated half, seated quarter and a draped bust large cent I go out today and find another seated quarter, an 1873 Indian and a half real only to be blown out of the water by what you found. Your 1793 Cent is one of the best copper finds I know of with the only thing I can readily think of exceeding it is a really nice 1787 Indian Obverse/Eagle on Globe reverse colonial I saw about 15 years ago. 1793 Liberty Caps are rarer than Chain or Wreath cents. GREAT FIND! Congratulations.

That's a hot one in a very familiar looking field. Good for you

here are some more pictures of the front and the back.don thanks for the information I will have to look a picture up on line for an example. Hey Todd no its not the farm that we both have a mutual interest in.

Mintage 11,056

Wow! Great find! It looks as if it might would be in Good + condition once the experts get a hold of it.

Here is a site that many of us, and dealers, use to find actual selling prices (updated daily) on coins. http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/prices/lrgcnt/pricesgd.shtml

G-4 starts at $7310 and I bet yours is better than a G-4. Congratulations Gary, you have a winner :beers:

Thanks Larry. That's great information... Can anyone recommend a good conservator? I have found a lot of nice coins Over the years but nothing worth sending away..
