15" coiltek and Sovereign GT

I'm really starting to like this coil a lot. 6th time out and did very good on coils at the beach. One gold ring woman's wedding ring. So maybe I paid for the coil already. Long time overdue, gold has been scarce this yr. in fl

I have used a 15" WOT Coil for years on my Sovereign GT..It's pretty well the only coil I use on the beach-sand..It has great depth, the best depth from all the coils I've used..I also have a straight shaft and the balance is so much better than the S shaft..You can play around and adjust your control box or buy an extension shaft -12" and mount your box back further back until you get the balance perfect..The WOT is a heavy coil but there's ways to get around it..I also have a Hip Bag to mount the box to your belt and I have a Vest with a Bungee Cord..I bought the Bungee from Minelab that's used for their heavier gold machines..Works Great,,it fastens to your shaft and hooks to your vest..No more weight problems..I sometimes run without the coil cover but when I do have it on I keep it clean as possible and dump the sand out,,only takes a minute....I NEVER spray my coils for any of my machines with bed liner....

Thanks for that info. I think if you want to deal with the cover then you have more patience then me. I like the bed liner a lot.

Yes this coil is heavy but I always use a bungee cord when using this coil. Works great, but after 7 or 8 hours on the beach even with a bungee cord the coil gets heavy.

Great coil by the way. Since I have this coil I haven't used anything else. Finding a lot of coins with this coil at great depths. Deepest coins are around the 14 inch mark. That is in the Disc mode pushing the Sens really hard. What you have to learn with this coil is that the deep coins are giving a total different sound then the shallow coins, but still giving a good reading on the meter. From 8 or 9 inch down the sound of coins changes completely. Deep coins tend to sound bigger to it seems to me.Think it has something to do with the halo effect and these coins being in the ground longer then the more shallow recent losses.

Made several video's about the WOT together with the Souvereign GT on my local beaches here in the Netherlands.

Here is a link to one of my video's.

Thanks for watching,

Opa Thanks for that . That was a very good Video I enjoyed it. Thanks, and thank for the info on the WOT

Thanks for the WOT video. It was very good. The WOT is a very good coil, and one of my favorites. Here is a picture of the new version of it. Looks like the extra support might add some weight, but not sure as I haven't received any specs on it yet.

Wow... they have changed the bracing struts quite a bit and added some weight to boot, I bet. I for one wish they had a WOT for the CTX instead of that heavy monster 17" thing.

I think that's for the X- Terra not for the Sovereign

It's for the sovereign. You can go to the Coiltek site or FeeBay to view it. On the coil it says: Sovereign Series.

I'll add my observations since this is a WOT thread. Yesterday I spent almost five hours using it on an ocean beach and the coil impressed me positively. First off I use a bungee harness to take off some weight, I happen to be ok with coil covers, sometimes I've sealed them up with silicone. I found the WOT to be very sensitive to small under dime sized targets. When I get around to posting up pics from Fridays finds you'll see tiny pieces of copper shrapnel, so small they were even hard locate with a pinpointer in the sand. I think I dug about 12 dimes (2 silver & 30 coins in all) from impressive depths in the wet sand - the deepest approx in the 7 to 9" range. I feel that the WOT is better than the 15x12" SEF I've used quite a bit on the same beach, at least for finding dimes and smaller targets. Stability was very good and I was running the sensitivity between 1 and two o'clock. I'll push the sens more the next time I'm there again just to experiment more. I really like the orange monster.

The all new second generation 15

Earthlypotluck,

Thanks for the new specs. According to the coil sticky at the top of the page, and Critterhunter's results, the original WOT weighs 747 grams/26.3 oz. and has a diameter of 14.25 inches. Maybe your weight includes the coil cover? The new design definitely looks stronger. As for performance, I'm yet to see some results of the two coils tested together. That would be interesting, but I would guess that they should be about the same, but you never know.

I took this info straight from the Coiltek website so I do not know if they consider that weight with the coil cover.
