12x10 SEF for the Sovereign Discontinued!?

JASONSPAZ1

New member
Kellyco no longer has them listed. And the company that makes them no longer has the 12x10 listed? Thank God I got mine when I did. Perhaps one of you know if this is true or not.
Thanks in advance

The 12x10 for the Sovereign was always hidden in a wierd spot on KellyCo's website. I had a heck of a time finding it on there. You have to click on the right link and it aint easy to find. There are several ways to get to the SEF section for the Sovereign but only one listed the 12x10. I bought mine used and fixed it as it had a few broken wires at the coil connector, but I was snooping on there looking for the 12x10 one day for the heck of it.

I just tried looking for the 12x10 on there so I could post a link for you guys that will lead you to it but their site is acting up and doing strange things right now. When I get on next time I'll try to find it and post a link for you. I doubt it's been discontinued. I think you probably just weren't looking in the right spot to see it listed. I'll be surprised if they have stopped carrying it for the Sovereign. Even if KellyCo has there is a chance that Detech still makes the coil and you can buy it off Ebay or from Joann Detectors in the UK and have them ship it to you in the US. I think Ebay has them for sale as well. At least I think I remember seeing them being sold new on there from over in the UK by somebody.

If Detech has indeed stopped selling this coil for the Sovereign you guys better find one while you can. Call KellyCo and ask if they have any left in stock. Or try to find one used. It's the best coil I've ever used for any machine I've ever owned. The 10" Tornado is a great coil but the 12x10 is better in all aspects IMHO (stability, depth, seperation, and so on). If they did stop making it I can see the price of used ones going higher than they cost new. It's that good of a coil. Like I said, though, chances are it's still being sold by Kellyco and just hard to find. Or, maybe they stopped carrying it but Detech still makes it.

Over in the UK they sold I think an 8x6 (not real sure about the size) SEF coil for the Sovereign but stopped making that after a short production run. Oh, and they also sell (I think) a 10x11 or some wierd size Detech coil for the Sovereign. I remember some guy posting a link to it over in the UK and Detech built that coil per order or something like that.

Here it is. They list a "social sale" going on right now for $144. Also, if you phone in your order and tell them your a findmall member the shipping is free. At least that's what they said a while back but I don't know if they still offer the free shipping for being a Findmall member. You'd have to ask. One thing I did notice is that they now have the GT package deal listed with the 15x12 as the extra coil instead of the 12x10. Not sure what that means....Maybe they did discontinue it? Somebody needs to call KellyCo and ask. I'm not near a phone right now otherwise I would.

Here's another link that lists it for the Sovereign...

http://www.kellycodetectors.com/excelerator/EXcelleratorMain.htm

And here's a thread on the very subject of it being hidden...

http://www.findmall.com/read.php?21,1318425,1319506

I'd click on the "Social Sale" link I posted in the prior message above and get the sale price. Like I said, if you call them by phone and mention the Findmall special you should get shipping for free. At least they used to do that but don't know if it's still offered. Talk to JW as he's the one that mentioned that deal last year or so for Findmall members.

I still find it curious that they now list the 15x12 with the GT coil package combo instead of the 12x10. Maybe they did discontinue it? Somebody needs to call them and ask and post here. I sure would hate to see them stop selling it for the Sovereign. As I also said, perhaps Detech still makes it and sells it in the UK but Kellyco has just stopped carrying it for some reason? We need some answers. I want to see more Sovereign owners using the 12x10 because I really think it makes the Sovereign an even better detector for finding old coins at worked out parks, beach hunting, etc. I think it's the best accessary (besides a Pro Pointer) you can add to your GT. The seperation of targets is outstanding and the reaction time between targets is also increased because it uses such a sharp detection line in the left/right perspective. I'm just glad I already have one.

That coil I mentioned that they make in the UK by special order is I think a 10x14. I think Detech makes it but I can't remember. However, I don't think it's an SEF coil using the special SEF DD/Concentric morphed magnetic field.

Sorry, it's the 15x18 that they now package with the GT coil combo deal. That's even more weird. Now I'm wondering if they stopped making the 15x12 as well as the 12x10? Somebody needs to call KellyCo and find out.

Great day in the morning...I ordered one a couple weeks ago at 179. Its on back-order, now Ive gotta make sure they adjust the price.
Thanks to this thread!!!

I've had one on back order since the 12th of February. They don't have an expected delivery time, but I sure hope it's here in the next few weeks! :detecting:

It's still widely available over here in England from joan allen metal detectors......i'm now thinking of getting one after listening to what critter has been saying about them.

I just called Kellyco and they said they are out of stock but have some on order. I asked the guy if they are still making them for the Sovereign and he said "Oh, sure!" So it looks like the fuss is about nothing. Should have known since like I said they are hard to locate for the Sovereign on KellyCo's website. You have to be in the right place on there to see them.

I still find it curious that you said the company who makes them no longer has them listed. Did you mean on Detech's website or were you still refering to KellyCo? And I still find it curious that the GT coil combo deal now has the 15x18 instead of the 12x10.

The "Social Sale" link I posted a few messages back has the 12x10 for $144, and as said if you call in your order (ask for JW) and tell them you want the "Findmall special" you should get free shipping. That's a pretty darn good deal. I also see in that Social Sale link that they list the 15x12 and the 15x18 on sale.

I doubt KellyCo has stopped carrying any of them or that Detech has stopped making it. It's just hard to find on their site.

Detech still lists the 12x10 for the Sovereign...

Check out the new 13" "Ultimate" coil they have out. Looks like the Pro Coil. I wonder if they are going to make a Sovereign version.

Just contacted Kellyco. Got the new price and free shipping. I simply told the rep about the Findmall deal and she modified the order.

Thanks Kellyco for such a great deal
Extra thanks to Critterhunter for the info!!

Glad I could help. $144 and free shipping is one heck of a deal. Using this coil you'll feel like the processor speed of your Sovereign has been sped up because it reacts faster between targets with it's razor sharp detection line. I'm able to run this coil at higher sensitivity settings too. Seems to pick up less interference (I've read this about egg shaped coils versus round ones) around power lines and such. The tones on it are crisper and sharper. They seem a little higher in pitch now too. Wierd that a coil could change the audio like that but I feel it does.

I got my 12x10 used by trading my 15x12 for it. The 12x10 wasn't working so they sent me $50 along with the 12x10 to make the deal for my 15x12. I'm just glad there was nothing wrong with the 12x10 other than a few broken wires at the coil connector. I had to hammer out and replace a few of the pins on the connector too because somebody overheated them in the attempt to solder things together and made the pins fall apart.

Hey critter, sorry about the confusion and not responding quicker.
I was browsing the website sefcoils.com and that is where I saw that the 12x10's where no longer listed. I assumed that sefcoils.com was the website of the manufacture of the SEF coils. However, I was wrong and the company Detech makes the SEF, and they have them listed on their website. I went through hell ordering my SEF 12x10 this past December from Kco. I also did notice that the 12x10 for the Sovereign was hard to locateon their ( Kco) website. In the end after digging through the website I found them just like you have. I thought the SEF came with a coil cover ( which it did not). So when I called Kco they told me the coil covers where back ordered. I got one in like 2 and 1/2 weeks from JOAN Allen in the UK and I am glad I got mine when I did. My second time out with the SEF I found that 1782 two reale. Did the SEF attribute to that find? Maybe. I will say all the hunting I did with the SEF 12x10 which led up to me finding that Reale was some of the best hunting I had for a seasons start. I am pulling DEEPER coins out in pounded hard old faithful locations. The SEF is sooo stable and the pinpointing and target separation is much better than the standard Tornado 10". I love this SEF 12x10 on my GT,and the only other coil I may put on is my Sunray S-8 in extremely trashy old parks. An SEF is a must have for any Serious Sovereign user.

Sorry to introduce a diferen topic to this convesation but I need litle of enlightment. daes the SEF 12X10 and the WOT 15" works with the Digitech 180 meter?
thank you!
Abel

All Sovereign coils will work with all Sovereign meters. The only exception is the SEF won't work with the Insight internal meter. It will work with it, it's just that the Insight meter won't ID targets. There is a possible fix for this posted.

Jason, glad you like the 12x10 like I do. I have a question on pinpointing. Are you using the center of the coil to pinpoint or the tip or tail? I use the tip because I never learned how to PP with a double D coil using the center. This works fine for most targets but I'm finding that extremely deep targets won't show up at the tip of the coil, so I need to learn how to PP using the center of the coil for those deep ones. Can you describe how you go about PPing if you use the center of the coil?

One thing you potential SEF users should know is that this coil seperates EXTREMELY well. Better than even smaller coils. However, if you want even more laser like seperation wiggle the front end of the coil at the targets to seperate them even better. It has a very sharp edge to the detection field the entire length of the coil, but it gets even sharper near the tip and tail. Never used a coil with such razor like seperation. It makes the machine feel faster too.
