12inch coil

Hello everyone

I am wondering does the 12inch pinpoint dead center of the coil and what is the difference in the 12inch and 10" DD Coil in pinpointing and depth.

I had The Super 12...... pinpoints dead center, and dead on ...... but was just to big for my hunting grounds

You can not go wrong with the stock 10' DD coil, maybe others can help you more

Personally, I love the 10x12" SEF EXcelirator coil. I put it on in November and it has not come off since. I runs quieter than the D2 at higher gains and pinpointing is easy. Target separation is superb, especially considering its size, and the depth is better than the D2 because I can run it at higher gains. The only possible drawback is that it overloads if you try to use the TX Boost at high RX Gains.

The best general use coil for the V3i would be the stock coil IMHO. DD coils have two smaller

I don't think you will get a definite answer when it comes to coils. It depends on what you are looking for and where you are looking. I don't see anything to be gained with the 12" over the D2 10". Because of the field pattern the 10" gets better coverage on deeper targets. For me the 10x12 SEF runs higher signal% and noise% than my 10" but then most of the time I run 3 frequency. I'm sure in 2.5 and7.5 single frequency I think it would be fine.

I received a killer deal on my Super 12 and have been running it a lot this last few times out. Lighter than I expected, covers ground quick, and for me it separates decently. Another thing I like about it is it's basic coaxial design that helps with a full response on shallow stuff. The whole reason I like this coil is for anything but it's depth possibilities, but for covering ground quick. Would I buy this at full retail? The stock coil covers so much of what this coil does and from what all I've heard about that 10x12 SEF......if you are going to buy, fully investigate that option for a big coil. (If I ever get around someone that has it, Neil's opinion has me wanting to try it out real bad.)

The Super12 does not get good penetration in moderate to highly mineralized soils unless using single frequency 2.5kHz.The stock D2 coil is the all around best performer for me. It as been a love hate relationship to say the least. I am on my 5th one, (Whites has this under control now). My current D2 coil is a dream to use. I really like the 10X12 SEF as well, but as stated the D2 does much better in 3 frequency modes. I pull coins at 8 to 10 inches on a regular basis with it. So the D2 is my first choice. My second choice is the spare D2 I have purchased and keep in my gear.
