Very impressive, especially with the coil sizes used.

Hello gmanlight,

I didn't try to push this machine for this test, but I kind of got the idea this baby is hot.

Great Depths, 1270 is an awesome detector goes really deep. A/M's is unbelievable. You have multi-confg with the toggle, just stay below nickels unless its super trashy. don't bother with the silencer toggle never found it very good, and the pin point is kind of wide on large ,shallow targets, Iuse the Iron or AM to pin point. Goes really deep with the 10.5 spider coil, if you have a 10.5 coil from a 1200 series detector it will work on the 1270 (1265, 1266).

my deepest target i ever got with the 1270 was 12k gold heart locket 1 x 1" squared at 10" deep and was a super good signal!

I like to hear that, sounds like room to spare to me.

Agree again.....................Deep

on the 1270 pinpointing can be wide there are 2 things that i've learned that will kind of curb this (1) run coil over target about 6" off the ground and sometimes cutting the sens all the way back will work to but sometimes on coin sized targets can be as wide as a mayonaise jar lid or something that size, so swing a little higher on that good target it will cut pinpoint alot better this is the only advantage on than khz the 1236x2 had over the 1270 the 1236x2 is dead on no guess work with that!

I bought it used off ebay late last year, so I don't know how old it is. It looks almost new or at least lightly used. If anybody knows what evolved over the 1270 history, maybe I could tell from some feature. When I quit detecting in 1971 because of work I don't think the 1270 was around then. Now that I retired last May the 1270 I am told is on its way out, so I kind of missed out on this one.

Maybe this is a clue, I just got my owners manual out and it has a sticker over the old Los Banos address with the new El Paso address. So I would guess it was one of the early ones from when First Texas took over. So does anybody know about when that was?

Yep that is the guy I talked to and he had some questions for me trying to make sure it is really broke and not just pilot error.

OK Ron call Felix on Monday and ask him to check your unit for the Modifications the 1270, mine already had them on there, make sure you give him the RA # of the unit. Here is the info:

1270 - A customer indicated that the case sometimes breaks off at the grip and that water can get in and the circuits corrode. These were determined to be clear design weaknesses. We continue to work on all products and make improvements when ever possible!

We have made changes to improve:

1) Added a machined steel support to reinforce the bottom of the case so that it will not break.
2) Weather-proofed by adding silicon around the junction between the face plate and the case halves.
3) Sealed the speaker (it's mounted on top and points up) with a clear plastic seal.

No-Charge Upgrade to any owner of a CZ21 with a date code earlier than 0409xxxxx.
Detectors dated 0309xxxxx(March 2009), and earlier are eligible.

Thanks shooter, I will do that. I noticed the control box seemed a little loose.

Felix & Company are working on my Edge right now. So far they have been great to work with. I am excited to see how it does after they send it home.

I for one would like to know how it turns out on the Edge. Would also like to know what kind of turn around time you get on yours, just thinking mine may be gone about the same amount of time.

I will also give any updates on mine as they come in.

Hope yours comes back good as new.

I got my call from F. T. and my 1270 has 3 shorted items on the circuit board, so it is undergoing surgery today or tomorrow and would be in the mail Friday. They also had to install a kit fix for the loose control box. Cost for all was $135 and I think I am getting pretty quick turn around.

good to hear
