10 x 14 SEF coil

Was wondering if any of y'all have tried the 10x14 SEF coil that Kelleyco is offering. I was fixing to order the 10x12 coil when I noticed that they had the 10x14 coil. Haven't heard anything about this coil yet so any input would be appreciated. Thanks

No hands on experience, but from past posts, users have said there is no depth advantage, just more coverage.....................and heavier too.

I've never seen a 10x14 SEF listed for Whites. Their site is hard to navigate but I didn't see it posted.I saw a 10x 14 but it wasn't a SEF. Rob

You are right Rob. I just called Kellyco and they said that the 10x14 was for the Minelab. It didn't say that in their advertisement. Thanks for your reply and I guess I will order the 10x12 SEF when they get them in stock.

I too, have been looking at my accessory coil selection for the V3. I have the stock D2 and the Bigfoot. I too was looking at the SEF coils. I've never used one before.

I decided stay with something I know and to pickup a Super 12" or 300 Concentric instead. Found a used one at a good price that seems to like the V3. I had one before for the M6 and it was a good coil. Not too heavy, has good performance characteristics. Now just to pick up a V rated 6x10 and I'll be set.

Rob is right on the SEF, I was think of the next size up from the 10X12 and that is the 12X15, no noticeable depth advantage from what I have heard. I don't know if the 10X14 DD is available yet for the White's line........

As Larry has posted before, the 10x12 SEF seems to handle our ground here in Illinois nicely. It has more coverage but doesn't seem to have more depth than the 10D2. Of course the 10x12 can't run the higher RX.

If anyone would come out with a 8x10 SEF that was V rated for my type of hunting that would be a coil I would spend some money for. Until then, I'm sticking with the 10D2. I've got a new 12" Whites concentric and it has never touched the ground yet.[attachment 165285 ani_einstein.gif].........Rob

I have the 10x12 and 12x15 (was out with the smaller one today). Both work well - the big one covers the ground quickly and I consider it a specialist coil - the smaller one is much like the 10"DD but seems to respond more sharply, is a bit deeper and less prone to falsing and EMI I think. Using mine today on a weed-covered field (in the UK) I was running with Rx of 11 or 12 with Sens at 90/65 in 3-freq salt mode. It was smooth, quiet and stable. I was using 5Khz filters and recovery delay about 60 and I don't sweep particularly slowly. I have been all over this field several times but I picked up another 13thC hammered silver penny today so it can't be all bad!

The problem with the SEF coils is like the non V rated Whites coils some will run RX15 and some will run Rx4. We have had both ends of the scale posted on the forum. You seem to have one that is great. Good luck. Rob

You may well be right there - the bigger one (12x15) is more tricky and I have to watch Rx more closely to keep it quiet and stable (but I haven't tried it with 3-Freq Salt yet) but the usable Rx last time out was 6 to 8. I was thinking it was just a mineralisation issue (seeing more minerals so needing to be held back a bit) but there may be more to it than that - I'll do a bit of experimenting next time I get out.
