10 X 14 DD for ACE 250 ???

I keep reading about people using this coil on an ACE 250, but Garrett's website does not list that coil as an accessory for the ACE 250. What gives? I have been thinking about getting me a new (inexpensive) detector, but I haven't considered the 250 because I really want a DD coil because of it's performance in mineralized ground, and wider coverage. My current detector is a 35 year old Garrett. It still works but I feel like it is missing a bunch of things. HELP!!!
Thanks,
MSgrandpa

It is not listed on the Garrett site because it is not made by Garrett. I think it is an excellerator coil. I do not own a 250, I swing the GTP but i have heard nothing but good and amazing things about that DD on the yeller feller! I hope this helps. Also, Kellyco sells that coil but I don't know the cost.:garrett:

I have been using the 10 x 14 coil on my Ace 250 for the last 7 or 8 months and I haven't taken it off since I got it. It covers a lot of ground in a short period of time and it gets very good depth. I dug a silver quarter at a true 10 inches, and goes even deeper on large iron (horseshoe). Here is the link for the coil on kellyco. and another link for a good description of operation.

Check out my site for some of the stuff I have found. I have only been detecting for 1 year.

Good Luck,

The 10x14 is an after market coil sold by Kellyco for the 250. Garrett doesn't make one for it currently. Many have purchased the 10x14 and have had good luck with it.

I use the 10 x 14 excelerator and I bought it from KellyCo. I have been using it for about 3 weeks and it is great. I cover more ground faster and I find more as a result. It detects deeper. The only thing I have found that I don't like is that it loves bottle caps but if I turn the sensitivity down it cuts out most of them in highly dirty areas. Overall I highly recommend it.

Thanks to all of you who replied. I will be mostly relic hunting, and it sounds like the 10 X 14 DD would be a good coil for me. Any of you use it for relic hunting?

Thanks again,

MSgrandpa

I don't really have any areas to relic hunt around here without driving a good half hour or more to get there one way. I have heard good things about the 4.5 sniper coil for relic hunting though. You may want to inquire about it as well before you decide on your purchase. I understand the 4.5 is great at getting into tight spaces and getting in between the junk to find the good stuff.
