$10 million in gold coins found!

I just saw news this morning and they have to pay 50% in taxes to fed because of an old law. They are going to post the finds for sale on amazon. Don't ya just love paying your taxes. Next time they find a penny on the sidewalk they may look over their shoulder before picking it up.

I would suspect that this would fall under capital gains tax law and they would need to pay the fed 38%?

Wow $3,800.000.00 in taxes! That sounds really fair. *sarcasm*

And the top 1% feel attacked by us asking them for more than a 35% rate, and they are BILLIONARES! Our system is screwed up.

THEY ALREADY HAVE ALL KINDS OF CLAIMS AGAINST IT AND WILL HAVE TOO TURN IT OVER TOO OBAMA. (NO JOKE) this reminds me of the woman who a couple of months ago who got a desk from a thrift store and found over a hundred thousand dollars in it in 100.00 bills. The person who gave it to the thrift store was contacted by the store after the lady who found it told them about it. her reply was OH I FOGOT I PUT IT THERE. NOW HOW STUPID DO YOU THINK WE ARE.

Yea.right.............. Looks like the Government wants in on it like I said in an earlier post...

I'm waiting for the confiscation to happen ..if it hasn't already...

They will probably get nothing...maybe a few coins out of this hoard if they are very lucky.
New information on this points to a robbery at the U.S. Mint in 1899 that matches up to most of these coins so now these are not considered a treasure trove any more but stolen goods.

I think companies like Mel Fisher's obtain some kind of salvage rights to recover treasure to be able to keep most of it. That's all these people were doing. They could have left it in the ground but yet they salvaged it.
I don't see why there is tax on the money anyway? Who digs up a silver half and pays taxes on $21.00 worth of silver? What will be next? Will we all have to report our finds to the government so they can set a value on them for taxing?

We need not post our finds either. The IRS will issue a tax on us through an email. "Good day Sir. We see for the month of March, 2014 you posted pictures of 3 gold rings, 14 silver coins, 6 Civil War Bullets and 3 Red Line Hot Wheels you found metal detecting around your home. We are now demanding a tax of $3,901.12 due on or before April 15th 2014. Thank you IRS"

Government Meathooks will get it all.

REVIER.......thanks for sharing the link. Even though it looks like the stash of money is the same that went missing from the Mint.....there is no positive proof. With the passage of time, no fingerprints, no positive I.D's or DNA samples, there is no positive proof that it's the same money that was taken. The burden of proof is on the Government.
Imagine getting a winning lottery ticket for $10 Million and then the IRS takes it off you. This is kinda the same scenario. I would feel like I've been violated 100 times and then 100 times again. The couple didn't think at the time of the world we now live in. Honesty is the best policy generally speaking but this is a completely different situation. We have a government that desperately wants money for crazy programs and this is a nice nest egg for the IRS. I don't know how they are feeling now but I would feel so sick of it all and you can bet they wished they had kept their mouths shut.....but it's way too late for that!

Like I said early on, uncirculated US mint coins!
The Gov will some way figure they were stolen from a mint shipment that was in transportation for distribution. Well, Rick, this is just like the rest of the stories with treasures finds in the US.
I don't need to say again what I would have done with them!

It wouldn't surprise me any if the Government doesn't try and put them in jail for possession of stolen property and fine them.

This is sad times we live in and I don't mean "we the people".
