10"dd vs 11"dd depth

The 10"dd will work better in iron trashy sites but is there much more depth gained with the 11"dd? I'm guessing not much gained.

Rick

I'm going to guess that the 10"dd coil performs better and is quieter on the Omega. I had an f70 and I didn't like the 11"dd, way to noisy, didn't have the 10"dd for it then. With the f70 I liked the 10" concentric the best. Now with the Omega I like the 10dd coil better than the 10" concentric coil.

On the right day I have been just barely been able to get a weak chirp with the 11" coil on my 9" deep buried dime at about 90 sen. and disc 1 with the Omega. Not a hit I would dig in a park or school yard, but maybe would in a woods hunt, cause it does repeat. Barely a whisper, though. HH jim tn

I have three coils for my Omega,
11" DD
and the smaller 5"x10" (if this is the 10" coil your talking about its not a DD)
and the 5" round (which is a DD)

Is there another 10" that's a DD that I don't know about?

Mark

With 10"dd in my mild ground I can run my sensitivity at max. It chatters with the coil in the air but on the ground stops. The 10"dd is a white solid coil and very light. Very nice all around coil and for trashy sites. I'm pretty sure the 10"dd won't hit a dime at 9". Maybe the 13" coil would. My 10"dd hits my test dime at 7 1/2", 8" quarter and 7" penny.

Our ground must be fairly similar, Rick. I don't know yet about the 10" dd depth, but your depth results are very close to what I get with the 10" concentric. I would like to get a tad more with the 10 dd then I do with the concentric. Happy New Year to you. HH jim tn

Happy New Year to you too. I would like to get more depth than the 10"dd gets. Like getting a dime at 10". I'm not sure the 13" coil can do that and may need a different detector for that. I'm not letting this Omega go though. This Omega with the 10"dd should just be fine and hunt an area. And then another detector to get deeper. Not quite sure what that will be yet.

I've got the F 75 LTD if I need a little more depth, but for the most part, the depth of the Omega is fine for me and i d's very well. I'm not overly thrilled about digging foot deep holes anyway, even if I knew it was a good target, which, I probably wouldn't. HH jim tn

We're gettin too old for diggin all those foot deep holes, Jim!!

I hear ya, Del. Happy New Year to you and Patsy. Almost a week of rain and a trace of snow here. Makes for tough hunting. May have to start looking further south if this keeps up much longer. :detecting: HH jim tn
