Hi

Looks like the Australian market has another coil allready.
Have not seen it advertised in US or Europe.Go down this page to X-Terra accessories, coils.

http://www.nqminersden.com/minelab_xterra.htm#Just_released

or have I been missing out on something.

and not a small DD.
They are the first to say anything about more coils, including from Minelab themselves so it just may be a mistake. I'll give them a call in the morning to make sure.

Hope it is a mistake and should have read 5"

The advertised 10" DD should be a good fieldhunter and one of the coils I would buy but wish for a 5" first.

BTW, Minelab states in the manual that different coils could be introduced to different makets so it is not certain it is a typo.

as it is keeping in line with 10''DD coils on their other machines. And one that size or larger in 7.5khz I want also. I hope that different coils are not released in different countries though.

Around first week of june. Bet you get them before we do though.

Mmmmm....I can almost smell that small coil.

Don't need no stinking 10" round DD. Need a 5x10"DD in the 7.5KHz. So we can hunt in the trash. Better still a 5x8 DD or a 3x7"DD in the 7.5KHz. :clapping: Anyway that is my @ cents worth. Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

I could care less about the coil shape, Its the DD detection field I'm after. I could see where some folks like the narrow coil shapes for poking into places where a larger round coil couldn't go, but for target seperation in the ground, they both will be the same.

I expect the round DD will be a bit deeper than the 5x10 at coil center.

On the Exp. ll the 10" DD coil hunts just as good in the trash and separates as good in the trash as the 5x10" Joey coil, the Sunray 5"DD round coil the 8"DD sunray round coil and the 7.5"DD minelab round coil. Also you are even saying that the 10" round coil and the 5x10" joey coil hunt the same in the trash and that there is no difference. Then why make a 5x10" elliptical Joey coil. Why, because it separates better in the trash then the 10" round coil. The ground swipe coverage is the same but the width 5" vice 10". The 5x10 width of the coil is smaller and less Masking of targets occurs then with the 10" DD coil. Not to even mention the ability to snake around and pick out a coin in the trash better then the 10" coil. So I guess all of us that have the smaller coils got took. Later Jerry aka Tinfoil.

Only difference is the shape of the coil or the lengh of the field or depth at center depending on width. You won't get any better seperation with a 5x10 over a 10" DD round but you will get deeper depth at center with the 10" DD round.

I know what coil hunts better in the trash and what will separate the trash from the good targets better and it is not the 10" DD coil. Just the shear size of the round 10" coil in the trash should say something. The 10" is a deeper target finding coil of the two. Surface to 3"s both coils will signal all the way across the width of the coil then it will start to taper toward the center of the coil. Then the more depth you add, that is when the target starts to taper off toward the center of the coil and less of a signal on the side of the coil. A smaller width coil there is a better chance of getting between the targets then with the 10"c coil. In the mean time when you are in the trash the less targets a coil See's the easer it is to sort thru the trash and get the good targets what ever you are hunting for. I have both coils and have found that is the way they work and hunt in the trash. Give me the smaller width coil and the length so I don't lose a lot of depth. I will lose depth with the 5x10" coil out in the non trash areas but not in the trash cause depth don't do any good when you are in the trash. 5x10" DD coil less targets under the coil. Anyway I guess we agree to disagree and it is OK with me as I am a trash hunter and I know what works. I have had the Pig, (that is what I call my 10" coil in the trash)and 10" coil hunting in the trash sucks big time. OK I am done for this one. Maybe I haven't explained it very good but, I do know which coil works best in the trash and it is not the 10"DD coil. Since they have already come out with the 10" round DD in 7.5KHz I guess there won't be a smaller 7.5KHz for the trash hunters. That is too bad. I would have liked to have had one. Wonder why they made a 5x10"DD 18.KHz and did not make one in the 7.5KHz coil  Later Mike Jerry aka Tinfoil.

About is for my EXPll but most of the time I use my 5x10" joey coil and the 7.5" EXP coil. If I am in a less trashy place I will use my EXP 10" round DD coil. I have not got the new 10" DD they are talking about that has just come out. No I don't have the new 7.5KHz 10"DD and I will not buy it as I have no use for it. Maybe if I lived at a salt water beach I would buy one just for wading and wet sand hunting. I really like the elliptical DD coils. I like this X70 alot but not enough yet to get rid of my EXPll and I doubt that I will get rid of it. Sorry no can help you. Later Jerry aka Tinfoil
