    Here in the UK there is still a lot of unexploded munitions from ww2 buried. My scariest moment was finding a live bomb on a beach which after reporting watched the bomb disposal team blow up. It left a crater 10 feet in diameter and 3 feet deep.

    Rob has probably hit the nail on the head. I had exactly the same problem and it turned out to be a bad connection on the ribbon cable !! Good luck and hope your V3i is sorted soon.

    Trouble pinpointing with 10 DD coil.

    Pinpoint position is right in front of where the stem connects to the coil but if coin is laying at an angle in the soil it will be off to one side. It is better to + the target area to get a more accurate idea of the coins position assuming your all metal setting for pinpointing is not set too...

    Hi Arnie. Great you are happy with your new V3i. As you stated your last one may have had issues !! With regard to your Garrett pro pointer and V3i having a "war" just press the menu button before pinpointing then when resuming your detecting pull the trigger to go back into search mode.

    Which of these two batteries would you prefer?

    Got myself an RNB battery a few months ago and found it great. Much longer life and also a little bit lighter than the standard V3i battery.
