    LEAKING NOX 800

None of the new ones will leak if you don't get them wet and since ML admitted the issue with the introduction of the 700 and 900 , who would take the chance. That alone would have to be a huge factor in the veracity of any information pertaining to it's ability to withstand water infiltration.

Who thinks that settings make any difference.

I find the best way to get the most depth is to use the settings correctly. If you turn the gain setting way down it won't make any difference how wet the ground is you will lose depth. Granted , some settings have a greater effect on performance than others but to imply settings have little to...

    What would you have done?

I had a similar incident but was able to track the highschooler down. Turns out he was a top tennis team prospect and I was able to contact the coach and eventually return the wallet with the $35 through the coach. The guy later found me detecting not far from where they practiced and came over...

Where to bring specimens to confirm Gold content?

Haven't been prospecting for 12 years but if I remember right pyrite will give off the odor of sulfur if smashed. Your friend doesn't have much to lose if he smashed a chunk , if it's gold it will just get flatter and bigger :) Does it look like this

    Is it gold?

Nice ring but probably means it is gold BONDED which is a higher quality than plated , probably a little thicker.

    Ground Balance

Not a "good" signal but I have seen really scratchy signals that I would probably not dig but caught my attention disappear if I kept trying to make it into a digable one;)

    Ground Balance

I do the same thing(noise cancel) first but also always wonder if that is something which changes with each frequency and is the whole process necessary everytime a new frequency is selected. I don't change from M3 often but do on occasion. When I do check the GB manually , I find the reading...

    Incredible Collection

My guess is the government will find a way to seize it now that they have come forward and exposed the collection. Brilliant!!

    Ground Balance

I go auto then engage tracking. I'll rebalance/check occasionally but always make sure tracking is on. Virtually all my detecting is on man made landscape surfaces with alkaline sub surfaces of decomposed granite and the ground can change suddenly depending on what type of fill was used...

Where to bring specimens to confirm Gold content?

You're not providing near enough info to get a valid answer. I would look for a gold and silver dealer some where close to the area it came from to start and hope they would steer you to someone that could answer his questions , at least that person could probably confirm whether it's pyrite or...

    LG28 coil and pinpointing

I have about 300 hours on mine now and probably half with the 35 (13.5") , a little with 6x8(24?) and the rest with the 11" and have had no problem pin pointing with any of them. There have been several times I pinpointed the "wrong" object with closely related items but for the most part it is...

    Video on recovery speed

I seldom run recovery beyond 6 as most areas are not that trashy and the ground is tough to get much depth in since it's mostly alkaline decomposed granite and I like to think I'm getting more depth at slower recovery levels. I'll put my thinking to more of a test when the 100 degree temps let...

    Lets here your guesses

Part of light fixture , towel bar , faucet handle , cabinet knob , etc. , hopefully copper or brass and worth the scrap value.

Been watching them for 20 days so far.

Looks pissed off enough to kill deer! Those are often mistaken for snipe by the unknowing.

    Anyone else practice archery?

No wheels for me , did that in the early 80's and it never took , too much like shooting beer bottle caps with a .22. Groves , Pro Medalists , Damon Howatts , Predators , Treadways , and a dozen others keep the rotation interesting. Those $1000 and up customs are above my paygrade but...
