    Test garden

Jason, You're on the right track with a test garden. First thing to do, find a spot that's free of iron (or other trash). Use your detector on all-metal (horseshoe on) and clean out the junk. You don't have to start out with silver coins buried .... clad is close enough for now, to get going...

    New to the EQ

jspeedy, Everyone has given you great advice, and it's all spot on .... HOWEVER .... it concerns me that you can't pick up a clad quarter or dime lying on top of the ground. I'm having a hard time picturing any combination of mis-settings that could reduce your sensitivity by that much. (Unless...

    Depth for CZ6a

No one can make a blanket statement that x-detector should do x-inches in any ground. As with every detector made, it completely depends on factors like the ground mineralization, moisture content, EMI, etc. Any mineralization in the ground will eat the depth. Here is Colorado, this is a...

    CT Zones..?

Sorry, I've no idea. The only reference to CT zones I know of, is Central Time zone? (...and that won't do a thing for detecting, lol.) Perhaps someone else can enlighten us...

Just seen where Dan-Pa. a long time member on here has passed away!! Read it on another forum.

Dan was a nice guy, and quite knowledgeable about CZs. I did some trading with him over the years, and he was always straight and honest in his dealings.

Loving the Nox 800 and a few questions

I miss hunting in that sweet midwest dirt .... ah, the good old days. Minelabs have a great history of finding the goods where you are in Illinois, but their greatest strength is in their multi-freq processing. In my humble opinion, you're hobbling your machine by hunting that kind of soil in...

    NOX truns on/off on/off ...

Were you hunting in water? I've never had that happen, and it's interesting that a reset has (at least for now) cured the problem. Any possibility you zapped it with static electricity when getting out of your car/truck? If it returns, I'd definitely call Minelab. If not,

    Two Nickels signals....

Ron, I gotta admit....I thought I liked to hunt for long periods of time, but a 12+ hour hunt would just about do me in these days! Eight+ hours is about the limit for my knees and back. Do you really go for 12+ hours at a stretch?? If you do, then any (and there are many, not just RNB) of the...
