First Day Out With The Nox 800 - Question

" I noticed that whenever I dug an aluminum pull tab, the Nox would give two or three beeps as I swept over the target, but a coin would give one strong beep. Is this typical? Would I potentially be missing good targets if I didn't dig the multi-beep targets?" sstephenson, Welcome back to metal...

    Which pin pointer

I use the Fisher/Tek Pulse unit you mention, and it's currently my favorite. (And I've used pretty much all pinpointers, with the exception of the N/M brand.) The only issue with any pulse pinpointer (that can potentially drive you crazy), is that pulse anything....detector or...

Where are all the CTX users?

Still here. :) Health issues have slowed me down a little, but I'm trying to get back to normal. (Although the wife says that the word "normal" shouldn't appear in any description of me, lol.) mike

Dose anyone ever hunt with the CZ7a, not the PRO, the one that takes 12 aa batterys?

Flinstone, You're most welcome. One thing I remember liking about 7a was that the balance afforded by the AA pack was much better than the later 9v models. "Why does anyone need this many detectors?" My wife is constantly asking that exact same question, lol. When she does, I just start...

Dose anyone ever hunt with the CZ7a, not the PRO, the one that takes 12 aa batterys?

Flintstone, I used to have a nice CZ7a, and it was a great detector. Get it out, and have fun! :) mike

    Big silver

So sorry to hear about your dad, cw3.... :( That is indeed one honking big coin! I always tell people who are looking for 'big silver', to test their machine and settings with 'big silver'. It can seem to act a little oddly, sometimes....

    New detector

Be careful putting too much stock in how a detector acts/sounds on YT. Everyone's ground (and EMI/RFI condition) is different from yours....and where one guy might be getting jumpy signals on an IH at 6", another might be seeing solid numbers at 8+. Unfortunately, the best (and sometimes only)...

    Numbers don't show-up!

TT, I suppose it's also possible you're swinging the coil too fast for the display software to keep up. A lot of people do swing the coil as if they're using a weedeater. If you slow down, you can hear the faint/deep signals better.

    Are you missing coins?

Nice. You'll find several different variations, and denominations of this shape of triangular trade tokens. Typically found in aluminum or brass/bronze (like yours). I almost prefer finding these odd tokens to finding silver....almost. ;) :) mike PS - Even though yours is bronze, here's a...

    Numbers don't show-up!

In situations like this...where the detector seems to act a little squirrely...I'd just do a factory reset. It's on page 50 of the manual. Do the Reset All. Here's a brief breakdown: Open the Reset Quick Menu 1. With the detector switched off, press and hold the power button. The detector...

Who goes swimming; CTX3030 or Nox800

If I'm hunting water, I don't have the optimism to use either the CTX or the EQ for extended use at any depth. Instead, I drag out my ancient 1280x, and it continues to prove it's 'waterproof-ness' and effectiveness. I'm not saying YOU shouldn't use either of the first two....it's just not for...

    Coin-For-Coin!

Great hunt  I also like hunting with a hunting partner. It's far more fun to share the experience, and having someone that's finding the 'goodies' can really encourage you to up your game. (Not to mention, you can watch each others backs if you're in an iffy area.) Enjoy your summer...

    Earphones for the ctx3030

If anyone is interested in the wiring necessary for the CTX headphones, here's a direct link to ML's knowledge-base article on same: https://www.minelab.com/__files/f/93182/KBA_21-3%20CTX%203030%20Audio%20Options.pdf

    Earphones for the ctx3030

It's no bother at all! (We like to help.) Some of the headphones....like the SunRay Pro Golds....have a switch that can internally 're-wire' the phones to work with different detectors. Just let your dealer know it's for the CTX, and he should be able to help. Good luck, and HH... :) mike

    Back-Up Metal Detector..??

The T2 has always been an excellent detector. My wife uses one of the green ones, and calls it the "Grean Bean", lol. Very ergonomic, easy to use....and lot's of accessory coils available.

    Earphones for the ctx3030

Of what "adapter" do you speak?? There's the (included) Minelab adapter that attaches to the back to allow 1/4" HPs to plug in. There's a 1/4" stereo/mono adapter sometimes needed to hear audio in both ears. (Usually w/older phones.) There are extension adapters to increase the cord length. If...

    Equinox wireless headphones not charging?

My hunting buddy dropped his EQ headphones on the pavement first hunt. They wouldn't charge after that. I suspect they aren't the most rugged headphones ML could find? mike
