    Very Small Button

Hunted a site today that has been hit pretty hard. My good finds were a small harness buckle, part of a spoon or fork, a rolled copper point and the smallest button I have ever found. It just covers the head on a Lincoln penny. It's a two piece and still has the shank. I wonder what it would...

    Sitting pretty

I have some in that shape and one that all you can see is the bottom line of the skirt. I took the liberty of editing your photos, hope you don't mind.

I took my candy with me. Don't tell my wife I have a stash of Baby Ruths!

    Sitting pretty

No need to worry. Us southern boys don't like the cold and it was only 52 when we were hunting. Add the wind chill from a 15mph gust and I would guess it was in the 40s. I only had a hooded sweatshirt on. Didn't even wear my long handles!😄

    Sitting pretty

I went out for thee hours this morning to a new spot. It was very cool and breezy for our part of the country but one good find warmed me up. I was hunting into the breeze when a small gust made me turn to the right. I went about 15 feet and got my only good signal for the day. I turned over a...

    Button ID??

I am pretty sure it is a U S Army Great Seal button. It's hard to tell if there was a rim so the button would date from 1902 to present day. If there is no rim it would date from 1902-1910. A rounded rim was added in 1910 and a more angular rim was used from 1927 to present day. Maybe a bored...

    Musket Trigger Guard?

I have been informed by a very knowledgeable person that this guard is most likely from a Springfield carbine. That would explain the lack of a provision for a sling swivel on the bow. The carbine had a slide ring attached to the side of the receiver. I need to do a little more research to...

    Musket Trigger Guard?

I am pretty sure it is a Springfield model 1873 trigger guard. They were made with and without the sling swivel provision built in to the front of the guard.

    Musket Trigger Guard?

Found this today at a peanut field I have permission on. It is brass with an iron trigger and would measure about 7"s long if straight. It is missing a piece at the front. Half a screw hole remains. I can make out the numbers 0 2 on the back of the tang. They are upside down in the first...

    CW Bullet ID Help Please

If you find a good amount of bullets you might want to invest in a digital scale. I have the Frankford Arsenal DS 750 and it is a worthwhile addition to one's IDing tools. They can be had for around $35.00.

    CW Bullet ID Help Please

I haven't find a bullet that matches yours yet. The only thing I can tell you is it appears to have been hard rammed which caused the "ring" around the top.

    Do Coin Star finds count?

I always check the Coin Stars wherever I go. It embarrasses my wife so that is mainly why I do it. As far as I am concerned regarding taking the coins I look at it this way. The owner abandoned them, Coin Star rejected them and they don't belong to the store any more than a coin dropped on the...

    Do Coin Star finds count?

If so then I have used up all my luck. I walked by the Coin Star in Wal-Mart a couple days ago and was surprised to see several dimes laying on the floor. The reject tray was so full that it couldn't hold all the coins. I got three handfuls and the ones off the floor. Ended up with over 1 pound...

But, way too small to be a cleaner. All my other bullets are packed away right now until I get my man cave up and running or I would take a comparison picture.

    Bullet ID help.

I just realized something. I don't think it is a .410 slug because it has rifling marks on it. Aren't .410 guns smoothbores?

I just looked in my desk reference. I will pull out my big books tomorrow. That is a good possibility. I will check into it.

    Bullet ID help.

I found this bullet in Macon, Ga. last Sunday and haven't been able to ID it yet. It is solid lead, not jacketed. It has been fired and while it may be hard to see in the pictures there are two grooves in it. I can't tell if there is reeding in the grooves because they are too compressed from...
