    will the solar flare affect my machine?

    Been reading up on this. Lightning has an effect on VLF.So that dime at 10in might be lightning in the distance. Has anyone experienced this. Actually it's probably more like EMI I would think.

    The 950 is my coil of choice in my ground on the vx3. The reason I chose it over the V3I is simply why pay for extra features you don't need or want.And I'd rather be out hunting than learning any day of the week.

    V3i ground tracking in auto

    In my sweet ground here Autotrack works perfectly and carefree. The only time I have problems with it is in heavy trash. Then I use Locktrac which will not drift.

    Went to the beach yesterday so I was using the 950 coil.Been a while since I have used this coil as I prefer the 10DD inland. It might be my imagination but it seemed like the sounds were clearer an more precise than the DD. Is this a real attribute of this or do I need to clean my ears more...

    How do stratified soil layers affect ground balance?

    Interesting question Neil. I always thought that the machine ground balances to a combination of everything that's in it's field. Like you don't ground balance over a target. If this is the case it would ground balance to a combination of the 2 soil layers.Hope an expert comes along with the answer.

I use the 950 coil as it is quieter than the 10DD In the wet sand I use the salt beach program with factory settings 5hz band filter. Sensitivity may have to be adjusted slightly but that's about it.     As others have suggested the best way is to find rings that match the ones you are looking for. Use them to create data you can use on your machine.

    Eclipse 5.3 and 6X10 DD

    Thanks for the input guys. I was up last night reading everything I found on the 5.3 and it seems like one sweet coil. No negative comments at all. And yes jalon salt is everywhere around here to some degree.even in the air. The conc. is the way to go.

    I cant decide on which one to buy. I know the differences batween conc. and DD coils but I was wondering if anyone had any comments on these 2 coils. I'll mainly be using at semi trashy home sites.Also does the 5.3 eclipse perform in similiar fashion to the 950 conc. but on a diminished scale.

    Snap on search coils.What if you ran the search coil conductors thru the shaft and and had male and female plugs at the end of the shaft with a slotted keyway to keep coil from spinning and spring clips to secure coil to shaft.The way we wrap the wire around the shaft all the way to the control...

    Polar Plot Does Not Lie on the V3i

    I own a VX3 which doesn't even have polar plot,but interesting enough the VX3 owners manual has a good explanation of whats going on with this.
