Am I not understanding the numbers on the ctx ?

I beg to differ Silver Seeker , I dug quite a number of silver items with both machines that were below 43 , not just coins but especially thin silver rings , pendants and chains. The clue is that the tones exceed the value of the VDI. Just like a regular aluminum screw cap will have that...

Am I not understanding the numbers on the ctx ?

As well as a thin silver ring , copper ring or washer , spark plug seal , brass grommet , even a flattened aluminum screw cap. The new designer beer brewers are also using some aluminum bottle caps that will ring a lovely 43,,,,just gotta dig em , you will come out way ahead if the day is...

    Equinox detectors (?)

I was a long time Minelab user , wore out an etrac and CTX . The first 800 broke and I sold the second shortly after I used it enough to see it was really nothing special when compared to the etrac ,CTX or Deus 1 in spite of Minelab's "obsolete" propaganda. If you are going to "buy the brand" ...

    Permission

Detect it ,,,,asking permission just gives someone who may have no idea the ability to chase you away. If you are detecting and someone objects , be polite and beg for forgiveness , in the final reel you will just have to walk away.

    New legend question

The bottle cap rejection is worth the effort if nothing else if you hit a lot of modern trash areas. Check to see if you have the threshold update as well if you detect with one.

    Legend settings?

Pretty straight forward if the target is a larger class ring. Regardless of frequency chosen it will most likely be above 20 on the VDI and possibly as high as 40. I dug one with a Deus 1 that was a solid 71 and huge one on an etrac that was a 12-12 , the other end of the spectrum. Fortunately...

    Coil damage?

The odds of having two bad coils are very remote , it should be an easy determination. If both are chatty and the machine has just returned from the service center than either you are just in an area with extensive EMI or it's user error. Just switching from MF to 4khx should quiet the machine...

    Ctx question

First thing I would do is ask him to get what needs fixing on the CTX fixed because everything is expensive from Minelab. If I was him the first thing I would do is ask if you have any warranty left on the 800 , if you don't , he should go his way and stay friends and buds

    Banning of metal detecting

Same here , next door and mostly desert impoundments for lakes that are State Parks. The majority of the patrons drive monster trucks , dirt bikes and dune buggers up and down the beaches until all hours of the night but using a metal detector could result in confiscation.(n)

    Banning of metal detecting

Mainly it is rooted 90% in ignorance and 10% in obstinance. When you get the opportunity to explain to people the benefits of aerating the soil and removing the trash the consistently stubborn types will still not relent and accept that their position against detecting is wrong. I used to think...

I found hundreds of pounds in 6 months detecting 1 hour per day

A funny thing about that,,,,,I'm sure you have heard the "dig everything" theory and I tried that a few times in Al infested areas around picnic tables and under lights but it never turned up anything as well as digging those unusually good harmonic low conductive signals , especially with the...

I found hundreds of pounds in 6 months detecting 1 hour per day

Back 10 or 12 years ago I used to average some where between $900 to $1100 in pocket change every year as well as a silver item almost every hunt.. I would tumble twice a month , dump the good stuff in the bank lobby machine and the zincs in the coinstar at Walmart. I have roughly 70 pounds of...

Does Nokta Makro not honor their warranty?

The warranty does not imply that the coverage is transferable to another buyer either , certainly an oversight in stating the conditions as I would assume it was transferable as well. If I remember right Fisher does not transfer warranty to second user/owner as well so it's not an unheard of...

    Update question/s NM Legend

If nothing else the bottle cap rejection in 1.11 makes it worth it. Used judiciously so good targets are not discriminated out it makes some of the modern trash pits a lot more enjoyable in the MF settings . I hunt in 4khz quite a bit which is a battery hog so the BC rejection certainly extends...

    New Legend Owner

For that kind of detecting , I'm not the guy you want under center. ;)I would probably noise cancel , ground balance , pick field and go with sensitivity on 30 in A or G to start with recovery at 4,,,,,I probably wouldn't find much either but would probably do a lot of digging:)

    New Legend Owner

Use the KISS technique , it really is a lot simpler than it seems. Let the machine find the best frequency , ground balance , set it to track the ground and go for it. I work in a few settings as I go along and get familiar but really recovery speed and frequency are the ones you will play with...

PayPal & eBay income tax information

Take the time to make the buyer a friend. Talk on the phone or at least have a little bit of online conversation to know you're dealing with a real person who has a certain level of honesty still left in their system. If you're the seller , your risk is that the buyer says it never arrives and...

PayPal & eBay income tax information

You are going to have to prove you lost money on anything you generate a paper trail on or you will get taxed on it. However , the part everyone overlooks is the sales tax. As soon as you report a sale , even if you have a loss , the State you live in may pick up the sale and make you pay the...

PayPal & eBay income tax information

I think they deferred it because the Inflation Reduction Act which it is part of was passed in the first quarter of last year and made the $600 a retro active thing for many who had already exceeded that amount and it was deemed to be unfair at that point. However , I never heard anything about...
