Boynton Beach Next Week..>Can I borrow (or rent) a scoop?

I am packing up my Excalibur and shipping it to Florida to meet me next week, but I can't find the right box for my big scoop. Any suggestions, or would anyone like to meet me for some early AM detecting? I'll buy the coffee & donuts!

Ground balancing problem (I think) V3i

It's called "lift-off" and it usually means it is not properly balanced. Are you doing a manual GB when you turn on the unit? (pumping the detector up and down until it smooths out) Also you may try turning off the auto trac feature. I use lock track because I found that the detectors...

    Deeeep Silver

What happens when you raise the RX higher? I find I lose a lot of depth below 9.

    Last Field Hunt Until Fall!

I found out the hard way that chiggers are active three months ahead of schedule. I am done in the high grass & brush until fall. But I did alright on my last outing back to the site that I found the half cent and the regiment buttons, finding some more buttons and another copper, giving me...

    Deeeep Silver

It did have a repeatable signal, but it would bounce from foil to mid-range.

    Killer Finds With V3i

The Sheffield Silver Plated Regiment button was only 5 inches, but the others were almost all 7 + inches.

    More Depth Using Single Frequency!

I am not sure, but probably. To be honest I don't get hung up on programs. I basically use Relic program with Tone ID, accept down to minus 40, Recovery Delay 90. Everything else is adjusted as necessary. I was using RX10, AM 75 and Disc 92 with my Ground Filter at 7.5 Hz Band.

    Killer Finds With V3i

My most recent outing with the V3i in Single Frequency 7.5 KHz to squeak out a bit more depth. The finds are among my best ever! Rare 15th Regiment button, 3rd Regiment Artillery Button, Wax Seal and more! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cq-l2wfbdDs

    More Depth Using Single Frequency!

2.5 KHz is not sensitive to small targets at all. It would mean risking small gold and buttons. The risk of missing a silver coin in 7.5 KHz (or even 22.5 KHz) is much less than the risk of missing gold in 2.5 KHz. 7.5 KHz is a great compromise. 2.5 KHz also drains the battery much quicker.

    Quick advice question

I use Relic, but the program is not as important as the settings. C&J is a good program but it does not utilize Mixed Mode. You can turn this on in the Audio menu. It will allow you to hear deeper signals than the factory settings. Other than that, just raising the RX, AM and DISC...

    More Depth Using Single Frequency!

I have been thinking about trying Single Frequency at my "pounded out" sites over the last few days, so I decided to get out for an hour to a site that will be undetectable in another week or so. I was thinking that single frequency may give me a bit more depth to get what I may have missed...

    Quick advice question

I think that next to raising your RX and other gains the best thing you can to to increase depth is use single frequency.

    Deeeep Silver

Not on this specific coin, but others from the same lake. The metal is actually eaten away.

    Deeeep Silver

The lake that the Barber was found near was drained to build a new dam. It was found in the spillover. The Washington quarter was found in a lake with no construction as far as I know.

    Deeeep Silver

Water is not polluted, just fed from mineral springs. Most of the old swimming holes are like that around here, which kills the silver around here like the Barber Dime below. On the other hand, I have found some amazing coins in the dry well drained sandy pines around these lakes, like this...

    Coil weight too much?

I found that the hipmount takes the weight off the back of the elbow and shifts it all to the coil. In my opinion it makes the coil seem much heavier. I like hipmounts for beach detectors because in the water the coils don't weigh much, Just my opinion.

    DIAMONDS! well...maybe not

I guaranty that the e-trac or the Excalibur would not have gotten these.
