    Loretone Rock Tumbler

I have been using this Loretone tumbler to clean my clad coins for 26 years. The model I have is a dual tub. I estimate that I have cleaned close to 100,00 coins with this model without even changing a belt. Every year I tell myself to buy some spare belts, but I always forget. In the first...

    Flying "HIGH" on 4kHz!

George, well done. How does 4kHz handle modern trash? Is it accurate on the tones and numbers? I look forward to your future hunts.

Which is todays best larger coil for the V3i?

I had the SEF 10x12 on both the DFX and V3i and it was a great coil. It was as light as the stock coil on the V3i and in my opinion added depth and separation over the stock 10 inch coil. I had this coil on the DFX and MX5 and if I still had a Whites detector, this would be the coil I would use...

    Legend Observations

No, I did not know this. I will give it a try. I watched several youtube videos on 1.09 version and I did not see this. Thanks!

    Legend Observations

Mark, the Etrac was fixed by the Minelab repair center and I should have it in the next day or so. It was the mother board and was fixed with used parts. I am hoping that it will last as long as I am physically able to detect. The repair techs really do a nice job. A new mother board is 649.00...

    Legend Observations

It is winter in northeast Ohio and besides the cold weather I have been dealing with a bad knee. Today, between rains, I took my Legend version 1.09 to my side yard. In the last couple of years I have found about 20 wheat pennies in a 12 foot by 12 foot area and all were 8 plus inches deep. The...

Felix, you are off to a great start in 2023!

    Short hunt today....

Felix, you are on a roll! I know the places you hunt are not virgin sites so to find one silver coin is an accomplishment, but you having some outstanding days. You are really in tune with that 800.

    Summary for 2022 silver

Mark, for people who think "the good old days" are long gone, you have just blew that theory out of the water. These finds are a testament to your abilities and dedication to the hobby. Well done!

    Ground coverage with coil

I believe most people have a "favorite" detecting spot that they have hunted over and over. I have one of those spots and I am constantly thinking that it only takes a couple of inches to miss a target. I am amazed at when I find a nice coin in places myself and many others have hunted. A person...

    Summary of 2022 Finds

I really look forward to your finds. If there was a "Finds Hall of Fame" you would get my vote. Good luck in 2023!

    Oh No!

Elmy, I have done this exactly like you described four time without any change. I am really hoping it is a bad coil, but the only person I know locally with an Etrac is extremely sick with Covid. Blood clots in the lungs and heart out of sync. Again thanks for your help.

    Oh No!

Elmy, sorry, but I am a bit confused. I did send it back for repair last summer and it has worked fine up until a couple of days ago. I just got off the phone with the repair center and to be honest, they cannot really help without the detector in their hands. I don't understand what you mean...

    Oh No!

    Yes, no difference. Thanks Ray

    Oh No!

Did a reset twice with no improvement. I called the factory repair center and inquired about a mother board if that is the problem. 649.00 bucks. I don't use but two programs so I did not back it up. Thanks Ray

    Oh No!

Yes the numbers for all clad coins ring in with those numbers. The tone is also a mid tone for all the same coins. Today, I started playing with the tones and when I switched to "four tone" from multi tone I can get a high tone, but the same 12-26 numbers. When I switch back to multi tone it...

    Oh No!

I got a decent day here in northeast Ohio so I charged the Etrac battery and headed out this am. I hunted for about a half hour when I realized I was not getting any high tones at all. It appeared that all numbers and tones were out of sync. I do dig my share of deep small rusty iron with the...

I'm off to a great start this year....

Super day Felix. If these are from your old hunting spot, you are getting that Equinox dialed in. It would be hard to start the new year any better than this!

    Silver Streak

I have had a great late fall detecting season for finding silver with the Etrac. Last week in northeast Ohio we had sub zero weather and 50 mph winds. The last two days have been in the 40's and most of the snow has melted. Yesterday's forecast was predicting high 50's with 30% chance of rain. I...

No Finds today but still looking !

Elmy, you are 100% correct. There is nothing better than finding a valuable laying on the ground. I take my wife to a big mall and weather permitting, walk the parking lot looking for drops. Metal detecting makes for a "trained eye". It is still more fun to dig for treasure. Have a great new year.
