    Never get old

I know the feeling. I took my 54 inch deck off my tractor to sharpen the blades and hurt my thigh muscle and my right knee. I use to accomplish this job in an hour or so. It took me three hours and will not be able to detect for a month. Good luck and keep on pushing.

Starting off 2021 in the right way.

Mike, beautiful coin. Most go a lifetime without digging that kind of coin.

    Mercury Dimes VS Roosevelt Dimes?

I seem to find twice as many mercs as I do roosies. IDX Monster has a good point about them being more recently lost and therefore more likely to be found first. But, at this stage of my time in the hobby, I will take any silver.

    Test Garden

I know some people don't like or believe a test garden is a good idea. I would rather use a garden than air tests. I planted my garden years ago and when I get a new detector, I can play with the adjustments, swing speed, and etc over actual coins buried at different depths. I have always had...

    Yesterday’s finds....

Felix, 10 wheats is a great day. I always figured 5 to 6 wheats for every silver coin. There has to be a couple of more silvers hiding there.

First old big silver for this year!

Mark, beautiful old half. Most don't have a clear date. How does field 2 work around loads of modern trash? Also, is recovery 6 your standard setting? Great finds!

    Thoughts on Garrett Apex

I had an Apex for a couple of months and I thought it was a nice detector for coin hunting. All of the features were useable and easily adjusted. I found the Multi-frequency to work best for me. I would say it is not a "depth demon", but is accurate to 7 inches or so. I found a handful of...

Equinox is still sniffing out that silver...

Felix, you have a great detecting site at this school. Hopefully it is a big area and it will give you many more days of detecting. In years past, if I found a spot like that, I would save it for future hunts. But, in today's world you have to hit a spot hard before the competition beats you to...

    Had A Strange Dig

I got out to my favorite park Wed. and had a rare type of dig. I got the perfect 12-13 nickel signal on the 800 Nox. When I stuck my Lesche digger in the ground to start digging, it sort of cut with no resistance. In short order, I figured out that I was following the outline of someone's...

    Richard @ Backwoods Detectors

'A great guy for sure. I can only hope that he stays in the hobby for a long time.

My buddy, the anfibio, and a merc ring!!

I have never seen one ring like that and we have two in a short time.

    WTH is this acceptable?????????????

Unfortunately, this kind of stuff is everywhere. I ran into a guy last fall that was in the front yard of a school with a full sized shovel. I politely advised him that his type of digging would get this place and any other place put off limits to detecting. He told me he had a bad back and...

My FIRST nickle and my FIRST dime today!

I would say you are off to a great start. It took me over one year of detecting to find my first silver. Try digging some signals that are not crystal clear and you might find some items of interest.

    Funniest or Unusual find

I found two gold crowns 5 feet apart at a local fairgrounds. I use to attend the fall fair that was held here and it was in concession row. Maybe caramel apples or something else hard and sticky. Found with Fisher F75 and both were in the nickel range. Only two I have ever found and found...

    The Best of the Best

Rick, many years ago, you were the "go to guy" with Sovereign advice and I distinctly remember your advice helping me understand the Sovereign. Had to be over 20 years ago. Where does the time go!

    The Best of the Best

My 25 plus years of detecting has been an evolution. Like many, I started with a cheap Bounty Hunter Land Star. I guess that detector got me "hooked". After that detector and a couple of others(I did not have too much money at that stage of my life) I got a Garrett GTAX 750 and I started finding...

Felix, WOW! Looks like you are going to hit a hundred this year.

    Confronted while detecting

Years ago I was asked to leave a local park where a couple walking for exercise had been watching me detetect. I saw him leave the road and walk across the field toward me. I figured he was going to ask about how to use or get involved in the detecting, but he asked me to leave. He said there...
