I purchased two shovels to use while detecting

But I also don't want to slight Dr. Otek's three piece shovel. It is built like a tank and should last for many a plug and even a root or three. But the weight was the main issue with it, had it not been for the weight issue, It would have been my shovel.

I purchased two shovels to use while detecting

Most all shovels steel handle or carbon fiber will not last prying out a root. But most all shovels can pry out a plug, if they can't, they aren't worth a dime. A shovel carbon fiber or other wise is only a tool and like all tools the user must learn the tools limitations. I'm quite pleased with...

Who does Coil repair in the USA?

That's being factored into the decision, but unfortunately with the C$ having such a bad rep, the best I could hope to get out of it with the new ID Edge coil would be roughly about what I paid for the Coil. So at best I would recoup the money spent on the coil.

Who does Coil repair in the USA?

Unfortunately, with all the new metal detectors coming on the market and prices dropping on so many detectors, it would be cost prohibitive to have them fixed unless under warranty. I have an Old Fisher Coinstrike that the main coil crapped out. I found a new ID Edge coil that would work on it...

    Long handled beach sand scoop

Thanks rodbuster, I also purchased the Quest Scoopal with handle. I'm impressed with the quality so far. Like I said, my intent is not to did to China. I mainly hit dry beach sand and occasionally wet sand. I usually hit the beach three or four times for the year and often fly down to the...

I purchased two shovels to use while detecting

I finally had to come to the realization that I am not getting any younger and getting up and down off the ground is getting harder and harder for me. So I decided to try using a shovel or long handled digger to minimize the up and down effort. The first one I ordered was the Dr. Otek 3 piece...

looking for someone who does coil repair

I was going out detecting this morning and checked my Fisher Coinstrike and found that the coil isn't working. I took the 8" coil off and tried the 5" small coil, which worked fine. I called Fisher and the guy pretty much told me I was out of luck since the model was obsolete. This is my...

    Long handled beach sand scoop

I'm not a reader, I usually wait for the movie to come out. But if I need to read a book to get an idea of buying a scoop, I'll make my own. I was just hoping some of the water beach hunters out there would post what they are using and how well it's working for them. But I guess they aren't...

    Long handled beach sand scoop

Thanks Donna, I'm looking at the Quest Scoopal. If I have to spend $650.00 for a decent (not top of the line scoop), I'll buy a welder and materials and make my own. I was just curious as to what other folks are using. I don't need a scoop to dig to China just something that won't fold like a...

Anyone recommend a decent long handled beach/sand scoop for $100.00 or less. Hopefully it can break down into a couple of sections since it will be used while traveling.
