Here's What Was Posted On The Garrett Facebook Page Last Week "LOOKING GOOD"

Thanks for your info jimmy clark - yes I have also read many who love the Ledgend as well as a few with some software update issues etc. I'm bouncing a few detectors up & down the list as I read on, now started looking at some you tube videos. I've been out of the game for some years due to...

    Gas valves

Well that's different and really nice. Looks like the tumbler did a swell job. I think I found 2 similar some years back but tossed them not knowing what it might have looked like cleaned up.

Here's What Was Posted On The Garrett Facebook Page Last Week "LOOKING GOOD"

oldkoot Thanks for the response. Although I was looking at the Ledgend, your information got me looking deeper into it and now see others experiencing the same. Shame how the software/update did not work out well for many and then the support issue etc. For now I'll scratch off the Ledgend from...

Here's What Was Posted On The Garrett Facebook Page Last Week "LOOKING GOOD"

oldkoot quote: "competes with the likes of the Legend (which I am not happy with)" Has me a little concerned as getting back into detecting the Ledgend was one of a few I was considering - just a little considering. Curious why your not happy with the Ledgend....

    Ken White passed away.

I started early 70s and all I bought back then were used beat-up detectors, BFOs, TR, TR Disc. It was somewhat frustrating but I kept wanting to improve and nearly lost interest. Years later I pulled the trigger for my first new in the box detector, a Whites 6000/Di Pro. The 6000/Di Pro was a...

    Compadre Is King

Very nice! I bought a Compadre w/5.75 fixed coil. I was down and out for years now getting re-started. I gave most of my detectors away, kept a few and knew I just couldn't and still can't let the Compadre go - Hands Off!

    How many Cortes users here?

Still have one because back then I had the Compadre, Cibola, Vaquero & Tejon and just wanted to add the Cortes because I was curious about the display & the sum thing. Kind of hard to read the small display (glasses help). I have pulled some nice finds with it, not a lot because I didn't put a...

Tell us how long you been Metal Detecting

I started early 70s and got a few used detectors, BFOs, TR, Tr Disc. etc. Later bought my 1st new in box detector, a 6000/Di Pro and headphones & that changed everything - going detecting after work, home late for dinner was a normal day. Then due to medical reason some years ago it was all over...

Back after years down & out - have to learn/re-learn

Thanks Picketwire I think I may get a couple of them. I'm down to 2 with the porcelain ball. My other one is 4 or so inches longer. I had another but dropped it on the pavement and the porcelain shattered and I didn't find all the pieces to epoxy it back together. I used these when I was...

What has been your # 1 detector in years passed

Toss up - I can't let my Compadre go (so light and simplistic) beep & dig - but years ago I spent many hours with the 6000/Di Pro (1st new in box detector I bought after used detectors) and the 6000 gave many nice finds. I been down for years and now getting back in finally swung the Compadre...

Back after years down & out - have to learn/re-learn

Well got out for a very short swing - just off a parking lot (closed AF base) with the Compadre. A clad dime, then a nickel, then a zinc with a rusty nail. The nail didn't keep me from getting the zinc. They we're together. Very short time (legs and ankles feel it) but a 2024 start anyway. Kind...

    How old is findmall

I don't truly have the answer but I was here years ago then been out for years now back and trying to catch up rooting around seen threads back as far as 2003. Trying to remember if it was yellow pages back in the day but I can't recall. I think I started not long after you, guess early 70s...

Back after years down & out - have to learn/re-learn

GA1dad & Confetrit - Thanks for the welcome... My thoughts are to ease back with the lightest which is the Compadre w/5.75 coil and start out maybe a tot lot or two then try to get on the knees then a plug or so later. Can't do much but it's a start. I've spent a couple walks around the backyard...

Back after years down & out - have to learn/re-learn

Been years since I been detecting - now recovering from surgery/medical blah blah blah I think I can ease back into detecting. Not back in well shape but enough I can do a little detecting - ease into it. Had to have Findmall help me (Thank You Findmall) as I couldn't remember my previous email...

    Razor Blades in park

FYI - just saw on news that several razor blades are being found in a San Diego park. Someone sticking them in the turf to hurt others (pets too). Authorities are using detectors looking for them and have found several so far. I have found the occasional razor blade, syringes/needles, knifes...

    Compadre fixed coil -

Wouldn't you think that if Tesoro would stop making the fixed coil on the Compadre, make it coil changeable, tack a little on the price for the interchangeable coil feature, they'd sell more and customers would be more happy to pay the little extra? Or wouldn't it be nice if sending a Compadre...

Settings for a faster sweep speed?

I'd set the filter up if a faster swing is needed, but I like to go slow so I run 5 just so I can take my time

Sound vs VDI, which do you prefer

Could spend a little time with the displayed covered up so you can't see it, of course after you get it set up to hunt first.

Those with 5.75 and 8" Compadre?

For those who have both the 5.75 and 8", which do you find using or liking the most? I have 5.75 and been thiking of getting another with 8" but since I seem to detect mostly in trashy area (but not always), I haven't decided yet if I want to add the 8" or not.
