Pinpointers ... what are your current recommendations?

Since I've been nearly all water and beach detecting for a few years and decided to detect the yard at my new home only to find that both my several years old Garrett pinpointers did nothing when I put known good batteries into them; I quickly learned again that I sure could use a good...

Well here's something I just found out today when I called to get an update on my cz20 repair..

Found the camera ... the front edge of the 10.5 when the two coils are held with the rod mount in the same position is short of the front edge of the FZ12 ... but closer than it is to the back edge. The 10.5 inch is thicker in both bottom to top thickness and in the width of the webs / structure...

    Unmasking gold in iron

Look for where people take things off, put them down and pick them up and along sidewalk edges from the edge to a couple feet out (rings can slip off, roll off the edge into the grass and disappear). I've had a lot more success in places such as grassy areas behind basket ball nets where stuff...

    Unmasking gold in iron

I'm sure you will eventually get some of the better metals. Are you hunting open fields, school yards, or how would you describe the fields you have been hunting?

    Unmasking gold in iron

First you need to get the coil over where the silver or gold was dropped and, in the case of gold, not discriminate it out. Took me nearly three years to find my first gold ring and I did not find that until I tested some gold jewelry in air tests only to find out that the discrimination...

Well here's something I just found out today when I called to get an update on my cz20 repair..

Was reading on a different forum that they still had a few of the LTDs left ... let me look and I'll be back.

Well here's something I just found out today when I called to get an update on my cz20 repair..

I'll look for my camera ... when mounted on the rod the front edge of the two coils is nearly identical distance from the mounting bolt because the coil mount on the 10.5 inch coil is further back from center than on the 12 inch Sunray. If the rod adjustment was not the same that is a...

Well here's something I just found out today when I called to get an update on my cz20 repair..

The FZ-12 rod mount is closer to center of the coil than the mount on the 10.5 inch Fisher coil by about 5/8 of an inch. That puts the front part of the loop of the two coils at the same point with respect to the center of the rod. I seem to have misplaced my camera or I'd put a picture up with...

Well here's something I just found out today when I called to get an update on my cz20 repair..

The FZ12 is actually slightly lighter than the 10.5 inch Fisher coil. I don't recall the actual weights but I have weighed them in the past to verify. It is a couple grams difference, not a lot.

    CZ-3D Coils

My CZ6A pretty much keeps the FZ12 on it for beach work ... they are pretty much impossible to find. The Fisher 8 inch is an excellent coil. The 10.5 inch Fisher coil is not bad but heavy. The 5 inch is good for very trashy areas but the ones I've had are not very deep seeking and have me going...

    Bone Conduction Headphones

Just looked at them and they have a sale going on; prices are very good. I did not buy because they don't seem to have a wired version. I want wired for venturing into the water.

    Any CZ-5 users?

They way to get much better on identifying those targets is time on the machine. Listen to them in disc 0 and AutoATune (all metal). Non-ferrous signals are not as broad as ferrous signals are in AutoTune. Slow down the sweep in disc 0 and see if it drops low tone. Speed up the sweep and it can...

NOKTA MAKRO (LEGEND) GETTING SUED - PATENT INFRINGEMENT

ML sued Fisher when the CZ platform came out. ML lost that one.

NOKTA MAKRO (LEGEND) GETTING SUED - PATENT INFRINGEMENT

LOL ... mathematical analysis ... today it all gets done with software after running the received signal through an analog to digital converter. That is why you can readily update the detector to new versions at home.

NOKTA MAKRO (LEGEND) GETTING SUED - PATENT INFRINGEMENT

Thank you! If that is the one they are using ... LOL ... pretty standard explanation of windowing with Fourier transforms that has been explained in text books for a well over a century. The patent expires in 2026 and there is not much unique in it ... square pulse windowing. I like the cheeky...

NOKTA MAKRO (LEGEND) GETTING SUED - PATENT INFRINGEMENT

It was when the CZ platform came out. Minelab claimed their patent covered all multi-frequency metal detector technologies (which it did not) but the CZ uses a completely different technique to compare the signals received from the two frequencies. Fisher won because they proved they used...

    Excalibur II leaking?

Here is a link to the page here you can download a .pdf version of the manual (download link is at the bottom of the page): https://www.minelab.com/usa/metal-detectors/excalibur-ii Page 14 of the manual has what the low battery warning does. If there is water in the pod or battery, by looking...

    Off season hunting is here

The Brunswick stew uses pork. Smoke up a pork butt like you would for pulled pork sandwiches; have some sandwiches and use the left overs for stew. Most of the recipes for Brunswick stew mix pork and chicken ... can probably use most any meat you want. As for corned beef, I've read how to make...
