    The Best of the Best

I could list the 20_+ detectors in 20 years of detecting but to keep it short it all boils down to the best would be the Shadow X5. Now understand I have not tried the Nox 800. That's just my reality. I like my Simplex but I would like to have an X5 also. That would really cover my hunting style.

    Sensitivity

I have run into several situations where I think I have run the sensitivity at max but I think this is causing machine gun hits. Mostly one way signals. I have ground balanced time and again but still the multiple hits. I have the v2.77. Could it as simple as just too much sensitivity?

    Simplex lower rod?

You say it's "turning to rubber" how long have you had it? I've haven't noticed any significant warping of mine. I've had it about a year.

    Lead game piece or what?

Tony our Governor may or may not be wise, time will tell. But that's another forum. Yes it is the largest one I have found most are the size of a dime. Because it is so precise in size I lean toward a game piece for now. I hope to get more responses.

    Lead game piece or what?

Hey BigTony thanks for the response. The hem weights I have found so far are like this but that's not to say this one couldn't be one. So that gives me more insight.

    Lead game piece or what?

Found this at a home site from the 1870's built by a Confederate veteran. As can be seen it's the size of a penny but about twice as thick. It weighs .35 of an oz. I think by the look of it it was pored into a mold and not hammered into shape. Just a guess. Any info will be appreciated.

    Simplex has arrived!

Best of luck to you. I think you will like the machine. Now I haven't had any problems with the original shaft but that's just me.

Adding a Simplex to my detecting tools

WELCOME to the fold. I think you made a smart choice and will enjoy this machine for some time. As far as extra coils goes I haven't heard of anymore out yet.

What has been your # 1 detector in years passed

I liked the Troy Shadow X5 for raw power, but it did seem to like iron. I also like the Minelab XTERRA 705 for sofistication.
