    Short recovery Delay

Most V3i users I have come across in the U.K. use a fast recovery due to the amount of targets lying in the soil (mostly rubbish). I run between 30 and 35 most of the time but have gone up to 40 on a really clean field.

    For UK users

Rob has hit the nail on the head. Most common site in the U.K that gets detected. is land that gets ploughed yearly. This is land that has been farmed for up to 2000 years and can be quite trashy. Also as it gets ploughed regularly finds are bought nearer to the surface each time so depth is not...

    Things are really slow

Been a heatwave here in Scotland with the ground like concrete. Still we are now getting thunderstorms and torrential showers so that should get the soil damp !!

    Max performance' 10DD program

Be interested to read your settings too Yahzoo. Cypearl don't know if this will be any help or not !! I gather you live in Cyprus and if that is anything like the U.K. you have soil that has been used by humans for thousands of years and fairly heavily populated. What I found was some of the...

    Max performance' 10DD program

Hi Rob. My local area has thick orange clay under the topsoil and as the whole region was formed by volcanic activity it contains iron. I just started with the 5 filter and worked up until the machine was stable at 10. I pull coins up to about 7 inches in most places but I don't think they go...

    Max performance' 10DD program

Some good advice here cypearl ! Here in the U.K. most of the progs. that work fine in areas of the USA are to say the least troublesome !! The only way to get a good prog. for your soil is to experiment with one setting at a time. Using 3 frequency, best data the settings I have found that...

    Hi-pro program

I use the Hi-pro program with a few mods (Rx, filter, recovery and sens.) for UK soil on my V3i all the time.

    Aluminum Bottle Caps

Here in the U.K. ignore bottle cap or foil VDI's at your peril. This is the range a lot of our hammered medieval coins come in at !!!

    Help with VDI

With the V series of detectors a good ground balance is essential. Are you sure this is the case with your detector! If it is balanced properly I would suspect a machine fault.

    Strange Reply

It smacks of the "I will sue you if" culture which seems endemick in this day and age !! Here on the other side of the pond we ain't quite as bad as the U.S.A. but are catching up rapidly !!!

    sef coils from bulgaria

Don't know about the U.S.A. but here in the U.K. the company that makes them advertise them for sale direct from their factory in Bulgaria on E-bay !!

My V3i seems unstable now, please help with settings

Had a bad coil myself and the symptoms you describe are very similar to my own.Mine started with false signals so kept reducing the the sensitivity over a many outings until got to the point any small item more than 2 inches deep was undetectable. Finally I couldn't get the machine to stabilize...

    :twodetecting:Man has it been HOT:twodetecting::cam:

Been a lousy summer here in Scotland. Rain, rain and more rain. Crops well behind harvest and cold for the time of year !!!

    boost plus lower RX

That coin is something else in that condition !!! It looks like it's straight out the mint. Makes you wonder about it's history and how it came to be in America?? Well winkled Rob.

    Coin custom programming

Yes here in the U.K. our coinage has varied from medieval silver farthings about 10mm across and very thin up to the 1797 copper twopence which weighed 2 ounces and was a 5mm thick by 40mm across ! The variation is tremendous with the thin silver sometimes coming up in the foil range !! Makes...

    D2 Coil Vs. Eclipse 10x6DD

Don't take this as gospel but have read on various forums about people using non V rated coils without a problem except they can't use the TX facility as the detector overloads ! No doubt someone who uses the coil you mention will be along soon !

    Coin custom programming

Yes norbyx it is a learning curve but don't be afraid to ask questions and follow posts other users make.I've been swinging a V3i for a year and a half and I'm still learning the machines capabilities. It's great fun though !!!

    Coin custom programming

The best way is as yazoo says.Use tone I.D. You get to know what sound your local currency makes but as the tones are linked to the VDI numbers it means the best way forward is to set your tones in "blocks" around the expected VDI of the target as the ground minerals can give a higher or lower...

recovery speed makes a big difference

When I first got my V3i I set two coins a hands-breath apart and kept altering the recovery delay until I heard the best distinct double bleep as I passed the coil over them at my normal swing speed. The optimum setting was 45 and have never had to change it yet !!!
  20. G

    recovery

I put two coins out about a hands width apart when I first got my V3i and found then 45 was the optimum recovery speed to pick up both targets. Never altered it since !
