    In my area ,, ground freezing probably never reaches below 2 inches at most ,, if that ,, so targets would have to be in that range,, which makes it most likely you'd have just missed the target .

    Don't Be Jealous of My Finds..!

    I was thinking it looked more like the air dampener on some type of gas burner ,, air regulator to help adjust the flame on a grill or something similar . But yours is a good guess as well.
