deus one an deus two

As a long time and proficient user of the D1, I will say that the fast multi frequency platform of the D2 offers several advantages. You can find lots of info on the technical differences between the two platforms, so I won't go into that. I will say that the D2 brought my old worn out sites back to life. These sites have no easy targets left, but the D2's unmasking abilities made them worth hunting again.

With the Xp Deus 2 I can go my older places I have hunted and it's like going to a new place. With the multi freq, the bottle cap reject, the ability to see thru black sand, waterproof, and the faster processor. I can go to many places with one machine :)Yeah

I went to a small 2 acre site I've been hunting for 15 years,, ..took the D2 with the 9" coil. As soon as i started swinging, I get a abrupt high tone slap in the face, wake me up , whoa what could this be kinda signal.
This place is a hard dig. Rock mixed with rocks and some soil mixed with rocks, you get the picture. When you get passed the rocky part, it gets easier, but it takes some time. I'm digging and pinpointing, digging and pinpointing because I don't want to use any more effort than I have to. I finally get down past my Garrett carrot and pull out a copper.

My coin expert buddy said it appears to be a British half penny, King George type . . . mostly a blank near zero detail. No biggy, have a bag of them. The thing is, like many of you guys, my surprise was , . .this should have been found already. This is the area that this field starts. This is the spot we start swinging . .everyone that hunts here. This field has been hunted with CZ's, Explorers, f-75's, Equinox, . . and lately a Minelab Manticore. These are only the units I know about. This 9" coil is rather amazing. It not only goes deep, but the unmasking ability's will make you smile in the middle of noware.

By the way, any newly discovered customized deep or unmasking programs come up in the detecting world for the Deus2 . . . Thanks Folks.!

Besides being waterproof an MF, What is the advantage of the D2 vs D1?
There are certain detecting conditions where I don't think there is a serious advantage to having a D2 over a D1. But if you ever plan to work highly mineralized soil or saltwater beaches, then the D2 is your choice.
Based on my limited testing, the D2 does seem to ID better at depth and offers standardized TID (using MF) vs the D1 where TID changes when you change the frequency. but that's a minor inconvenience on the D1.

If you're on a tight budget and only plan to hunt mild soil in parks and schools...etc. Then I think you would be happy with the D1. However, I'm not sorry I bought the D2. It's an all-in-one detector.
If you think some day you will be hunting ocean beaches, prospecting in AZ, or diving for treasure, (Multi-frequency is a huge improvement under these conditions) then by all means, the D2 is a fantastic choice and worth the investment.
