Manticore owners: Do i need 1?

Good point you two made…. That is the reason I decided to go with the XTP.. I wanted something to use in the water and have as a good backup for my 800.
I can use the coils I already have for my 800 on it and for the price of the XTP, I had enough left over to buy the 5x8 that I am using in the water.
And it has almost paid for itself already too!
Ironic how they are all quarters :poke:

Well I found a smoking deal on the Manticore full package. Lol I bit.

Can somebody tell me what the newest software version is? Or if there is a new update version?

Thanks.

Like you, I'm hung up on the fence about making the move into the Manticore but knowing full well that the CTX will soon have a second model in its series. I can't wait to hear how it does for you and about your likes and dislikes in the near future. ✌️

Yeah I got a feeling minelab is getting ready to drop something exciting July 6th or 7th.

I don't know if it is going to be the revised CTX or something completely new.

I'll keep everyone posted on my finds & thoughts.

Thanks.

I have the 900 and the Manticore; with maybe 40 hrs on the Manticore and over a thousand on the 800/900 platform. One thing I have noticed on the Manticore is its ability to handle tough EMI. Make sure to do a long press on noise cancel, as in hold the button down for at least a minute and watch it cycle through channels until it starts sticking on one or two channels. Keep holding until it finalizes on one. And EMI changes throughout the day, and even minute by minute in rural areas, so doing routine noise cancels with any machine is a good idea. On the 900, I have had times where it was a chattery beast and really had to lower the sensitivity down to levels I dont like to go to (like 13-14), and other times I had sensitivity at 28 and it was so quiet I questioned whether it was turned on! EMI mitigation is very good on both, but seems better with the Manticore.
Another thing to note is the Manticore will most definitely pick up things the Equinox can miss. I lost a snap ring on my lawn mower. Took the other one of to scan with the detector to see what it sounded like before searching for the lost one. Must be made of "junk metal" because the manticore wouldnt pick it up until I put it in all metal mode, then it was a solid and consistent signal. I tried the 800, and even with it in all metal horseshoe mode, it would NOT pick the target up even though it was an inch below the coil. Tried the 900 and it picked it up, but the signal was not as crisp and definitely not as loud as the Manticore, so maybe that has something to do with the "50% more power" into the ground spiel Minelab claims. Along those lines, I cant believe some of the hair thin strands of broken wire I have found with the manticore! The garret carrot has problems finding them!

Had the Manticore since Dec 2023, use it all the time. Awesome detector. I highly recommend the update. It really stablelises the detector. And the numbers turn red when you turn on all iron. This is very helpful when water hunting and it's submerged. If your serious about detecting and will use it a lot it's worth it. Mine has paid for itself several times over in gold and silver jewelry and coins. It pulls stuff out of high trash areas using the 15" inch coil and it pulls out tiny targets at 3" plus

Luckily my Manticore came with the update already installed. I bought the Manticore 3 coil package deal & added the M9 coil.

I only got about 11-12hours of swing time soo far, but been pulling some deep coins out of the iron with it.

It seems like it is going to be a great detector.

Lol I really should get out with the Nox 900 I bought. Lmao swung it maybe 3hours if lucky.
