I Dug My First Silver Coin With The Vortex Today

It was 7- 8 inches deep, and gave a nice clear high tone in all directions. I ran the unit zero discrimination, multifrequency for maximum depth. This unit is deep!
 
i'm probably going to have to sell one of my units to pay for dental work for my wife, but with proceeds i should be able to get one of these. definitly on my radar now

All modern machines can "see" coins at 18-20 cm (except some have difficulty in highly mineralized soil) - the better machines will be more able to identify those targets. From what I gather from my limited experience with my Vortex and what other owners have said, the Vortex is in the "better" category.

I think it is too. Overall, it seems better then the AT Pro at depth and ID. The AT Pro has been my best metal detector for many years. It really excelled with finding silver coins and identifying my Canadian coins as such. It's going to be interesting to see where the Vortex Series will go. It's bonus that the upgrades can be done on the computer.
