Whites Spectrum XLT

I was given a Whites Spectrum XLT. It did not have the battery compartment for the AA batteries. Found a battery compartment online just to see if the unit will work. If it works, can y'all give me any tips.

Use it in preset programs for a while before you start tweaking programs,get used to the detector first , a great old detector gets decent depth and accurate id on good targets,if target id bounces around broadly it’s likely trash but can be occasionally a coin on edge also if it’s getting coin readings and trash readings back and fourth,I’d recommend dig everything the first few days of using and you will learn what tones and vdi numbers to dig or not to dig
