Crush it to a powder.
Pan it. If it moves easily in water it's pyrite.
If it sticks to the bottom swishing the water.
It's a heavy metal. Possibly gold.
A little info.

I did that with a few things. What’s left I’ll post a pic. I think* it’s gold.

If it flakes off in a little shiny flakes when you scrape it, it is not gold. It would be muscovite or, more likely, phlogopite. These are both phyllosilicates (sheet silicates in the same family as biotite).

Crush one of flakes , if it turns to powder and smells of sulfur it ain't gold , if it simply flattens , celebrate!!!
