A good Sunday for a quick hunt

Had a hour to kill so I grabbed the detector and came up with this. A friend of mine who is really into this said it’s really old and identified the mint mark. Newbie luck I guess.

It’s a silver bar that’s been painted.

Can't confirm exactly what it is or what it may have been used for, but I have a tidbit of info for you. Silver and other precious metals are typically measured in troy ounces and one troy ounce is 31.1 grams,,,, not 28 grams. Again... not saying it's not silver, but based on the units it was measured in, I would do further testing.

follow up- take a look at "stick on wheel weights" online. They look very similar.

Well my friend who assured me it was silver was wrong. Took it into a coin shop and it passed the magnet test so he broke out the testing gun and it came back PB or lead bummer.

Still a good find though! There are so many good targets that share VDI with lead,,,,, including civil war bullets. Keep swinging!
