Zinc penny or???

I think I may have posted on this before, but .... a year or so ago I read in one of the forums that jewelry often reads as zinc pennies. As it happened, the second zinc penny I dug after reading that, turned out to be a small gold ring. Fast forward to this morning. I got a zinc penny signal and looked into the grass and there's a small gold ring with stones right on the surface. Much as I hate'm I think I'll keep digging zincs.

Good going BB. I know Larry has found gold rings that ring up into the copper cent VDI, but they were big substantial pieces of gold. All of my gold rings have come with a VDI of 6 - 34. The 6 was a very small size 1 child's ring and the 34 was a large man's diamond wedding band. I guess you could say that I'm from Missouri where you would have to show me. (I'm really not, but my parents were) Did you happen to check to see if there was anything else where the ring was laying to give a signal? I think it's great that they were gold. HH, Nancy

Zinc penny signals will sometimes turn out to be a surprise. My biggest "zinc surprise" was a large junky skull and bones ring ......BUT.....it had a gold chain attached to it........:)

A very large men's gold ring might VDI up in the 50's as will a gold plated silver ring, but small 14K rings will often be down in the teens and twenties.
