Your thoughts on Sunray Gold or Pro Gold headphones, please.

I have a chance to buy a used pair from a friend because he is going to a wireless set for his Explorer. Anyway he wants $75 and they look new. They are the "Pro" model.

Those are EXCELLENT headphones. They only have one drawback, which have not personally experienced, the muffs deteriorate quickly especially if they contact sunscreen. But you can replace them, and personally I think it's worth the inconvenience because they are perfect in every other way IMHO

Sunray makes a great set of headphones. One thing I would suggest, use them with your machine before you buy them. Tones/sound quality will vary from one make of detector to another.

The Pro Golds work very well on any detector I have used them on & I have used them on many different brands & models of detectors.-----Having said that (IMO) they make the very best "marriage" on the Explorer series & Etracs.----The sound quality with that combo is just unbeatable.------P.S. $75 is a very good (reasonable) price for a pr. of Pro Golds--if they are in good condition, buy 'em!

Just bought a set and they arrived Thursday. Going to give them their first try in an ancient cornfield Sunday. Gold Pros seem to get the most votes on this forum, that's why I got them. The Koss set I got with my SE finally started to wear out.

I have used the SunRay ProGolds for a number of years and like them a lot. On headphones that have leather muffs, use a leather conditioner on them regularly and they will last a lot longer. The sweat is one thing that really affects how long they last before cracking and drying out.
