Your review opinion is important!

One question with many possible answers, your professional opinion is very important!

Deleon, Golden U Max, Cortes, Tejon, Vaquero,Cibola, Lobo.. If price wasn't a question, which would you buy and why?

Thanks

I would buy the Vaquero again. I have a Tejon but I dislike it. The tejon is a deep seeking machine no doubt, however, I am unable to use it in parks, near the city, and in some fields because interference renders it useless. I thought this was just a problem with my machine until a friend of mine who has been detecting for 30 years brought his machine to me asking if mine had the same problem. Where this machine has problems my Vaquero is always willing and ready to tackle whatever I put it through and it does excellent! As for the other machines, I have not used any of them so I am unable to give an opinion of them. The Vaquero is well worth the money as for my tejon I would never buy another. I will say that if the Tejon had a frequency shift I would think that it would not bothered by emi as it is now.

I have the Tejon and have not experience the interference mentioned - yet. It is a good bit nosier than my Cibola, and thats expected, but at the moment I wont let either machine go. For grab and go short hunts I'll use the Cibola, otherwise it's the Tejon. This is in regards to my Tesoro's as I have other machines too. For relic the Tejon is my first choice. For a little park coin hunt, the Cibola is my first choice. Other than the stock coils, the 5.75 concentric and 5.75 widescan work for both machines.
I think the Vaquero would be a good compromise between the Tejon and Cibola. I have heard all good about the Vaquero too.
I have a somewhat desire for the Cortes because of the additional info but the small display may not agree with my eyeballs. This is not to say anything wrong with my Tejon and/or Cibola, it's just that I like Tesoro machines.
Tejon: Deep, two discriminate's, manual ground balance for conditions, tone adjustment for the hearing, threshold knob.
Cibola: Supertune for extra depth when needed, sharp discriminate (like the Tejon), preset ground balance, frequency shift.
They both work for me and have served well.

depends on your preference, TID or Beep and Dig. It also depends on the type of hunting you plan to do, and, what the ground matrix is in those areas you plan to hunt. Every detector you mentioned will have devotes. Every one mentioned has its positive and negative aspects. If I had to choose one and only one my choice would probably be the Vaquero.

I have a Tejon which I consider to be a great relic detector out in the woods away from interference. I have a test garden near the house that I cannot use with the Tejon because of some kind of pulsing interference. I think it is coming from my neighbors big screen TV. I am right on the edge of giving it up and getting a Vaquero. The Eldorado I had earlier had no problems in the test garden. By the way it does no good to turn the sensitivity down on the Tejon, the pulsing is still there. :rage:

The sensitivity of Tesoro's are like a double edged sword. The older units didn't allow you to overload the TR amplifiers. You can now do that with the newer units and Micromax units. Though this allows greater depth, it is also more sensitive to electrical induction and RFI (radio frequency interference). If the signal has a fast pulse, it sounds like 60 cycle induction (AC). Keep in mind that induction can radiate 30 feet or more from an electrical source, like in the wall of a home, or underground cable. Since AC power operates at a such a high voltage, the 60hz cycle bleeds all over the spectral plane.

But once you get away from it, you have a detector that can utilize this spectrum for amazing depths. Its a give or take. Fine tuning with filters to stabilize induction, affects the actual performance of the 14khz circuit as well, resulting in depth lose. Remember, it's the receiver that determines the depth, as your transmission goes many feet into the ground. So when it is sensitive, it picks up a lot more, like 60 cycle induction or RFI.

Id take a Cortez for pretty simple reasons: I already have a Vaquero, Tiger Shark and a Golden uMax!

Thats kind of a no win question, The question is like you never had a detector before and witch one would you buy. but a professional opinion
would be from some one that has used them all.

I think there all good detectors, I had the golden and others, my wife hunts with the Cibola and likes it.

so my answer for the kind of hunting that I do, I think would be the

#1 Cortes
#2 Vaquero
#3 Golden U Max
#4 Deleon
#5 Cibola

This link has helped me and I'm sure others to understand the Tesoro machines much better than we did before we asked the question.
Thanks for everyone imput...I appreciate your opinions.

just like jerry said, i am rarely out in the woods away from everything. i like the vaquero. it all depends on what type of hunting and where.
