Your perspective on volume?

Just looking for how you set your volume. At first I used volume at 4 and didn't use the "boost", but after trying it, I like having the deep signals come in loud and clear. Kind of keeps me alert and "on my toes".
So what say ye?

Nope, I like my deep signals to SOUND deep. I never go above 4. But I have Black Widow headphones with some pretty mad crazy volume, so I run that all the way up. The result is that I have plenty of volume but the deepies still sound deep. The Black Widows shut out most all outside noise too, so you aren't missing anything even with the volume down a little. But to each their own.

Volume of 4 gives you a modulated audio and up to 10 gives you an audio boost..As I hunt for deep silver and have senior citizen hearing I always use 10 lest I miss a deepie and even then right from the get go know if I have a deepie as when they reach 8 inches plus just sound different. In reallity a matter of choice as both ways are successful and Fisher gives you this choice. Actually I feel more can be told by a target using 4, but 10 works for me.In addendum would stick with one or the other as switching back and forth can affect your efficiency...

I keep the detector volume at 10, adjust the headset to a comfortable level and rely on the detector depth reading rather than "modulated audio" for good reason.
In beach sands the actual depth reading is more useful to me than that perceived by audio volume. That is, the depth reading will determine the angle of my scoop for one-pass retrieval of the target. Without this information one can scoop up too much sand and have a shallow target pour out of the scoop, requiring another pass at pinpointing and more scooping.
When detecting in the parks/schools environment accurate depth information is likewise useful. The pinpoint and depth information determine the exact location and the correct angle of my Lesche to dig a small neat flap or plug
