Could be gold...
Could be brass...
How's the weight??
Take it to a jeweler and have it tested.

Looks like gold. Is there corrosion on it, than it can't be gold? Is it heavy? A jewelry store would be able to tell you if it's gold.

To me it looks like a gold nugget. Nuggets are odly shapen....and this is definitly an odd shape. I would say go and buy a gold tester, either a liquid or one of those machines. You'll have your answer. The liquid is cheaper and they machine is much more....but the liquid runs out....and the machine won't.....or you could just go to a jeweler  Just letting you know this incase you are curious.

[size=large]i understand the liquid does have a shelf life. it becomes ineffective over a given time. just saying this is what i've heard. i haven't found enough gold to go around buying the stuff. i let the gold buyers test it and tell me the results.
