The biggest earring in the world!
Hit the surflane from about 12:30 to 2:30...got rained out twice and witnessed a terrific lightning show from underneath the pier. Met up with Darren before the storm and we ran for cover together under there. Both times it stopped raining we tried it again and along came another squall. We finally packed it in. Other than that, it was a beautiful night out but my "swing time" was severely curtailed due to torrential rain and dangerous lightning.
But in the short time I did get to hunt, I found a little clad honey hole in the wet sand and worked that for a while. Then I was working the water (about a foot deep) and snagged the earring. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw THAT in my scoop...the sucker is HUGE.
Here's a shot of the whole "nut" and then a couple of the earring next to a 1900 silver dollar, to illustrate the enormity of it. Yes, it's THAT BIG. It weighs 2 ounces! Who would wear that??? Nevermind...don't answer that.
