thinking about making metal detecting videos
Looking for advice on video recorder type / macro lens
editing software

any advice would be appreciated

Windows Movie Maker is a good program to use to make utube videos. I am currently in the process of making utube videos as well. Might want to try the kodak playsport as a camera.

Also, I should add that only the newer version of the playsport has macro mode... it is an outdoorsy type camera, so it could fit your needs. There are others that would probably fit your needs, but this is the only one I can think of at the moment.

I just use the program that's built inside my computer. Really simple. What takes the longest is posting it on YouTube. I like to take stills and slide show it.
Although I really don't detect anymore I still lurk around here and still post videos on YouTube. I own a DSLR and several Point and Shoot models. I prefer the
PS over th bulky heavy DSLR. I don't like hearing whats going on during a shoot either. I dub it out and throw in music...
Creating videos take up a lot of time. But it's a lot of fun.

I've got the Kodak ZX5 and like it. I use windows live movie maker to edit the videos. It is very simple to use and you can make them look very good with limited effort. feel free to check out my channel. The first 4-5 videos was done with a crappy camera and no editing. All the new videos were done with the ZX5 and windows live movie maker.
