You people with the new SE better get to it

3 hours on the new SE. Had to do one of those nice things for my sweetie Fri.. You know, one of those be very nice, do something for her, so I can go hunting anytime I want type of things, that you have to do for women. :D: :D: . Hardheaded YES, Stupid NO. Anyway for a few good things. I was not wore out after 3 hours swinging the SE. It is balenced a lot better then my Exp ll. The Pinpoint works great with the VCO and ID numbers are dead on. I really like it for the seperation when you are in the iron and trash. A definate big PLUS. The larger numbers are better for us old guys also. Never liked the cross hairs, can't see them. Have not tried the cross hairs yet but I will. Ran the contrast to 0 and it did a little better in the bright sunlight with the larger #s. To me it has a little quicker response then my Exp ll or so it seems to me. I got to swap out the coils between the two machines before I can say the new 10.5 coil is better then the old 10.5" . I have only one target buried in my yard and that is a clad dime on edge at 8"s and with all the interfearence I have right there like a Transformer not 50 feet away two air conditioners running the Explorers have never did well with all the harmonics and RF no mater how much you use the noise cancel. You have to drop the gain and the sen to just get it to even squeak on the dime. With the grass you are looking at 9 to 10"s depth on the dime. Unfortunatly the Explorers suck when it comes to ID ing targets in RF and electrical interfearence. However the SE did hit the dime with a better digable ID and a better consistant tone then my Exp ll does. I don't know if it is the coil or the processor on the new SE and won't know till I swap out the 10.5" coils. If I were to bet just with the limited time I got on the new SE I bet it is the coil and the processer. It will be interesting to find out. The SE with the new coil did hit the dime and had a better ID then my old Exp ll. I have just got to switch out the coils to tell if it is the machine or the new coil. Have not got to use My Joey or M/L 7.5" yet. I don't plan on even trying the Platypus as that is the worst coil I ever saw on the Exp ll. It 100% sucks period on Depth and Id. The heavy A$$ 10.5 on the exp ll ID's and gets better depth then that crappy Platypus coil. The new rain cover for the control box did not fit as good as the one I have on my Exp ll and was torn at the bottom at the menue button. It was sort of loose and wavy maybe causing the glare problem as it just did not fit tight like my Exp ll. So I got a new one comming. I sure wished they would have fixed the glare problem. It is a little better with the larger numbers but there ought to be something you can do to fix the damn glare problem. Sorry I don't have more then that for you guys. It just needs to stop rainning. I do like the new coil though and I do plan on doing a little wadding in at least knee deep water with it. At least I know the damn coil don't float  . Later and HH jerry aka Tinfoil.

Old one I got was a NO date Buff at a measured 8"s with my tape measure. The ID was 10-6 with iron right next to the coin. The new VCO and ID numbers helped me pick the Buff out of the iron. Matter of fact it helped me get a lot of targets out of the trash and Iron. I am very pleased with this part of the improvements and also the balance. Even though there is only about 3oz. difference it is the balance that I like. I don't even like hunting with the large coils as they suck in the trash. I have to say the one on the new SE did do a pretty good job. Next I will be swapping coils between the two machines, marking targets with my wire flags, and seeing what machine is doing what. As I have said I am not a fan of large coils as I like hunting in the trash and iron. That is where all the good stuff is down here anyway. Beside if you can hunt in the iron and trash you can hunt anything and anywhere and the rest is a piece of cake. So get out and go :detecting: HH Jerry aka Tinfoil.
